Root Wirelees tether

Rooted my new incredible with unrevoked. Added the android.tether folder to sd card, instralled the wireless tether app. All seems fine.
How exactly do I set up the thether to my laptop? Thats been killing me for 2 days now..

Launch the App and start the tether by clicking on the green signal button in the center of the screen. On your laptop you should see a new Ad-Hoc linked under Wireless Network connection called "Android Tether". Click on it and hit "Connect". Thats it.

Ok, got it to connect on wifi, but not bluetooth. Good enough
But it won't allow internet access, stays at identifying network...

where do you enable "mobile networks"?

Edit: Nevermind. I didn't realize what this referred to, I turned it off and back on and that didn't work.

I'm having some issues with this as well. My three-year old MPB can see AndroidTether under "Devices" on the wireless menu, but connecting to it keeps me from accessing the web whatsoever.

The phone was rooted with Unrevoked 3 (god that was easy), but my main reason for rooting it still isn't working. :|

EDIT: After a bit of research here maybe it's that I didn't do any of the unofficial OTA update stuff, and my basic DInc kernel doesn't support it? Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Ahem.

Just as a note for anyone who comes across a similar experience:

I just attempted to connect via wifi hotspot two friends computers to see if it was my ancient laptop's problem or the phone's. Both computers could see the AndroidTether connection, and then connect to it, but once selecting it any attempt at surfing the net resulted in "You are not connected to the Internet."

ED: Like the original poster, I followed the instructions here:

Tethering is still not working.

ED2: Tethering works now! It seems after doing the last step, all the phone needed was another proper restart. I hope this slightly embarrassing mini odyssey helps anyone else in the future who has the balls to root the Incredible without having the brains.

Make sure you download the Evo 4G dump and place the proper file in the android.tether folder.

I'd take it to mean that the built-in 3G Wifi update is shipping standard now then?

I think I'd still rather save $240/year off my bill through the root method...

Since I'm paying $1200 a year for unlimited GB from Sprint I'll probably go the root method too. I just found it interesting that a 2.2 (?) feature was available as an option.

I'll report back once its arrives.
