Froyo 2.2 Update on Orange?

Every time I call orange to pay the bill etc I ask them, but as per usual they don't have a clue. They don't even understand that its them that will be doing the update.
Thanks

Orange deal with numerous types of handsets, and it's a bit unreasonable to expect a call centre monkey to be as interested in Froyo as you are.

If you keep tabs on this forum, there will be a big fanfare when the official 2.2 update hits the Desire. After that, you will have to twiddle your fingers for an unspecified period of time while Orange get around to customising it for their own particular branded incarnation. Who knows how long that might take.

I'm currently using my Desire on Orange (UK) and wanted to see if anyone had any idea when they will be releasing the 2.2 update for the phone.

There are numerous threads asking this very question.
HTC have to get the standard froyo rom playing nicely with their sense overlay, then orange get the rom to install all their crap on before it gets sent out for ota update.
As orange usually take their time i wouldn't hold your breath, but if you feel comfortable rooting or you can't wait there are penty of custom froyo roms about.

Is there somewhere or someone who could debrand or root my desire? I'm on orange aswell and am very uncomfortable doing it myself from all i've read about it. Also i've just got the phone and am worried about the radio/sim lock/warranty issues.

You can unlock & you can debrand using the goldcard method & it doesn't void your warranty.
You only void your warranty by rooting.

First time i've been on Orange and i must say that if they don't release it pretty quick then i'll just root and NEVER go with them again. I must say, they have been a complete shambles since i joined them + all the shite they install which i can't delete like a bloody Monopoly demo!!! I would like to see how many hero owners will be signing contracts with them for new devices. I can see that process repeating itself with the Desire.

They must be losing a lot of business

Anyway, sorry for the off topic rant :).....the short answer is no one knows but keep checking here weekly and you'll soon find out!!!!
