Battery solved, next issue: Bluetooth

Finally got the unit working ok on the battery front...but now my bluetooth headset regularly has a hard time connecting with the phone. it pairs and works but randomly disconnects, or worse, cannot pair the the phone requiring a repower of the headset.

It is Voyager pro that works like a champ on every other phone out there. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

oh verizon....you have such great service but such LOUSY phones. If only AT&T and VERIZON would mate and produce a child with Verizon's service and AT&T's phones....We could name it ATIZON...

Sorry to dissapoint you, but once you get the bluetooth connected properly, it doesn't do voice commands via Bluetooth. This is definatly a problem that needs addressing like yesterday!

Wow you are really swinging for the fences...i am just hoping to get the headset to stay paired and function for basis phone calls.

the bluetooth will display disconnected intermittently.


i simply want to have audio through bluetooth!
mine pairs and stays paired...i have the jabra bt250.
its old as hell but works like no other!
but i cannot listen to audio through it...

No voice commands is an issue with Android, not the phone. It's not even updated in 2.0. Slowly but surely, this new platform will become functional. I just don't know how they can ever compare themselves to the iPhone. It shouldn't be this hard just to make a phone do the basics, like last all day (battery life) or stay connected to Bluetooth.

You guys realize that you own a smart phone and with it means it requires more battery to do all the sweet things you want it to do. Short of turning off all the features to run, you could have bought a phone that could last all day but doesn't have the features your Eris has. Maybe accept that, even the iPhone, cannot last all day. There is a trade off. no update will make your phone last all day. sorry.

i hear you, and semi agree, but a well built smart phone should last a day with heavy use IMO.

My BB storm, i abused it daily, real bad, and it never died mid day, or even daily. i could squeeze 2 days out of it no sweat.

As for the bluetooth I believe an update can improve the music buffering and signal strength and add voice dial.

My BB storm, i abused it daily, real bad, and it never died mid day, or even daily. i could squeeze 2 days out of it no sweat.

The BB doesn't have the processing power or the integrated features and apps the droids have. I suppose one day the smart phones will last all day without loosing features but Eris is not that phone. I love my Eris coming from a G1. The differences are very noticable except the power usge is about the same. I can live with the power usage. I docking solution would be recommended for those who need it juiced up all day.

Agreed, it is much more powerful...i am getting a day out of my eris so im good with that.

The iPhone would make it through a full day with moderate to heavy use. I had to charge every night, and sometimes by 6-7pm. I'm not doing much with this phone and it's dead by 2. I don't think it's too much to ask to get through the day - think about if you travel with this device, you would have to be very careful with usage to make it without having to charge.

Besides that, the iPhone had 3rd party accessories that came out that would boost the battery to make sure you could get through the day with heavy use. I hope that happens for this phone, otherwise, it's pretty much useless to me. I do believe this is an Android issue - too many apps running in the background, apps that drain the battery too quickly... open source is great, but if there's no monitoring or standards required, then we'll continue to have these kinds of issues with the platform. And as long as we continue to have these issues, I don't see how this platform can really take off. I don't imagine that the general user is going to be on these forums following all the recommendations to maintain their battery - they'll just return the phone. And when I called Verizon about my phone yesterday - they had no idea what to recommend to optimize battery life. They didn't even know about the SMS issue. LAME! They just offered to send me a new battery. Well, that works for me, but I expect to have the same issues with a new battery. The only hope is to get 3rd party battery boosters to help us make our phones functional.

I am a heavy user (200 minutes/day) and was having same battery issue. once i fixed the sms thing and got my awake % into the 30s plus lowered my exchange refresh to 10 minutes, my battery now lasts about as long as my iphone did. maybe you have not gotten the sms issue completely resolved?
