Root Damage Control 3.5 Beta (FroYo)

I'm jumping between Ava-FroyoV2-RC and CyanogenMod6 Evo Froyo RC1 starting later tonight. Ava also has sense. I'll let you know how it goes. I have to get my apps backed up before hand so I can restore on Ava.

Yes please do... I would love to have a FroYo rom as my daily driver but I dont want to sacrifice a bunch of features to do so.

Was using CM6 RC1 and then the nightly after for a day or so and while it was nice, the battery life was horrible. I flashed the new Fresh rom and everything is so much better. I think I much prefer sense to anything else. Not sure I will even use the new DamageControl if both cameras don't work to their full capabilities. 4G and the HDMI is not a big deal to me, but everything else needs to work flawlessly for me to use it. So far it seems like no froyo build has come close and won't come close until HTC releases their version of Froyo, which by then I wouldn't need CM6 or DamageControl.

Not a bad beta. Battery life is fair, and is producing 38.xxx reports in linpack in battery saver mode reliably. Bluetooth connect and speech to text issues are on my radar, as texting or talking without a headset driving is an expensive no-no here. Have no camera issues that cannot be adjusted. Other things I can live with, so far. Hard workers on this one, they deserve a donation if ya can afford it. They are putting time into it, obviously.

Yea the no bluetooth and speech to text killed it for me because I use both while driving. I think the Beta 3 release coming soon will fix those issues but other than that, its a great ROM and super fast.

[RANT] Screw Damage Control, forcing you to donate/buy a rom just doesn't sit well w/ me, especially a beta... not w/ Android, go sell a winmo rom... You know, something like: " any help/donations if you like our work, would be much appreciated" would incline me to donate, I have no issues w/ supporting the community, just don't like it being forced into basically buying a rom, regardless of asking for $1 or $10. At any rate w/ Froyo OTA's starting today, we should soon see a bunch of working, quality roms soon.[/RANT]

Let me break it down for you... This ROM is only being released to donors because it is a beta that has issues and isn't as polished as the public releases. Once they work out more of the bugs, it will be released as a public beta for free. The devs don't want a flood of the same issue reports coming in so I assume thats why they chose to do a limited release and I don't blame them.

Basically, you can continue free loading off of the community but if you choose to do so you will have to wait to get the newest releases. ;)
