Anyone brave enough to test my theory with a case mod?

The front fell off.

Dont you mean the back fell off? I think that little slit corresponds to the little slit that is on the back cover. Whats behind that whole odd shaped area seems to be the speaker but 90% of it is covered (stock) so he is thinking that if you make more openings for sound to escape it will be louder. Which makes sense to me.

Although take what I say with a grain of salt I could be totally wrong.

yea I have an X. I love it but the speaker needs to be a little louder.
Will I do it? I don't know, I'd rather you go first. lol
I just thought I'd throw this out there to see if people agree that the cover might be part of the problem. Maybe some gunho rooted type will do it and report back.

I think this might help.

Randomly increasing the open area might make it louder but it could also affect the frequency response, loading on the driver, etc. I think you'd also want to make sure that the actual driver extended beyond the area of the existing slot, you could be opening up areas that have nothing to do with the speaker or even essentially be drilling holes in the speaker enclosure.

In other words, it could help but it could also make things worse, perhaps a little more research would be appropriate before actually trying it.

Wow sorry about that. I had no idea my site was infected with malware. I've been frantically trying to fix this over the past 8 hours. I think it must have got in from the contact form, which I have now removed. I googled malware infected website and it seems like it is quite the epidemic lately. Again I had no knowledge of this and apologize for any inconvenience. I requested a review from google, hopefuly I removed all the infected pages.

I will repost the pics later on imgur.com?
