Does anybody have any information about the following regarding Email related issues

I have a total of 5 email accounts

My Primary Gmail account and as well as my secondary work gmail accounts work flawlessly (go figure)

however I seem to have a problem with my other accounts.
2 email accounts are a company domain email powered by gmail servers
1 email account is a hotmail

I have very inconsistant incoming emails and receive approx only 3% of all emails coming into my inbox. Outgoing emails seem to go out just fine.

All accounts are verified correctly when setting it up on the phone. All the configurations seem to be correct.

Ive spend hours on the phone with tech support updating software, hard resets, taking out battery, rebooting, etc.. all which has failed to fix the problem and they seem to be clueless on the fix.

Has anybody else experienced this? Please help!!

I am having the same issues. I set up my evo yesterday and it worked fine. I had to reset it to factory defaults to get rid of a gmail account that I didn’t want on there (yes, the only way to remove it was to set the phone back to factory defaults) and now that I have set my email (pop3) up again, I only seem to get 30% of my email. I would love to know what you find out if you do. Thanks.

the HTC EVO email is terrible. I am having the exact same issue as you... gmail works perfectly but everything else (hotmail, yahoo) just doesn't work.

I almost returned my EVO because of this. Apps like k9 don't help either and have the same problems.

The ONLY good solution I have found is an app called 'maildroid'. When you refresh your email account you actually GET them. There developer is very helpful too, always updating it to make it better... it is in its beta stages but this is the only app I have found that is reliable and the one I use all the time now.

Hope this helps, and if you can email their dev about errors/suggestions/improvements because this is the only mail that works.

Maildroid :)

I just tried K9. I don't really like it but it works. The others don't look nearly as good. But K9 has a lot of "push" and "notification" junk built into it. I just want a mail app which works (well). I use the HTC Mail app for Exchange but it doesn't support pop3 or imap, of which I need. Looking for more recommendations... Does Touchdown support pop3 or imap?

I reset my phone to factory settings and started over. It seems to work now!

UPDATE, after the initial push of incoming emails that came in which led me to believe it was working is not true. Other than the initial emails that came in after setting it up, any subsequent emails are not coming in again.

I had to resort to mail forwarding all my accounts to a new work related gmail account

yahoo mail just works fine. you just need to set it up differently then on previous phones.

wifi needs to be off when you set it up and wifi needs to be off for the mail to sync.

i followed this youtube video for the droid and it works perfectly. watch the video once all the way through and then maybe replay it to set it up. the evo menus are slightly different.

I just got a new EVO and have a problem signing into my gmail account. It is located at https://mail.google.com/a and is called a Google Apps account (not to be confused with apps created by 3rd parties).

I enter my email address and password which allows me access to my computer based gmail account but that information will not be accepted by the EVO during setup when it asks for my gmail account. The address is my own domain and not @gmail.com.

I do not want to forward my emails to a standard email account because of the 25 gigs + of storage I get with my Apps account.

What a pain!

Any suggestion please?

Does maildroid refresh automatically or do you have to push the refresh button each time?

FWIW, I just installed it and I'm playing around with the settings. If you phone is awake, email seems to come in as it should. If it is asleep, it comes in for what ever you have set for checking...I have 5min set and it works.

Under advanced settings you can "prevent sleep mode" which will allow you to recieve your mail as the server recieves it I assume. It does warn that this feature can have a posibilty of signifigant battery draw...thats scary.

I just want to recieve email as it comes and not drain my battery. Have I missed something? Does K9 do this?

Been connected through the exchange server at my work since I have had the phone (two weeks) and everything has been fine. Stopped receiving e-mail to my EVO sometime yesterday, work server-check, sync to work computer-check, re-entered password in an attempt to "log on" -no go. Can go thru settings to manually sync and it appears the calendar and contacts sync but email stops and presents an exclamation point and at bottom of screen says "sync protocal error"

Any tips or ideas?

Thanks in advance

Any new information on this issue? Here are my details from a post on another forum:

Issues with built in GMail application and push email.
I searched here and in the Application setting and didn't see anything close. Looks like this forum may be relatively new.

About a week ago my GMail application starting flaking out on me. When I open it up it will just go away several times before it will load. Sometimes it will say Loading conversations then go away, or just get stuck on Loading Conversations. After I finally get it to open successfully and Loading Conversations goes away, I still have to refresh do get it to show me any new mail. And, it will not always get mail for either of my other 2 gmail accounts unless I switch to them and then refresh them. Also, It will almost never get an attachment. Also, it shows my default gmail account has having 1 message in it on the Switch Account screen, however, there are no messages in there, I have verified this from my computer browser as well.

Here's a little history about what happened prior to this problem.

I had my first Evo about 3 days before the headphone jack quit working, the Sprint store gave me a new one (bonus: they let me keep all the in box accessories for both.) The first day of each phone I was prompted for some kind of update, and I let it update.

2 Days into the replacement, I dropped it. Assurion sent me a refurbished unit. A couple of days into using it, it prompted me for an update every day, I continued to tell it not now as I was not in a good service location. The update request has stopped. I have gone to the Settings/System Updates and looked for all the updates there and it does not find them.. I'm certain it wasn't a request for an Application update.

I have used an application Startup Auditor to disable the following applications from starting:
Amazon MP3
Flickr
FM Radio
Google Talk Service
Sprint Football Live
Sprint Navigation
Voice Dialer

I have not Rooted, or done anything like that to my phone. The only application I run all the time is Advanced Task Killer.

Oh, one of my secondary GMail accounts is a GMail for Business account for my own companies email.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Andrew

Well, as it turns out I resolved my issue. I had disabled the Google Talk service and that service is required for the push stuff to work..

I am also having problems with getting all of my emails. (I get some, maybe 20%) can you tell me where the Google Talk Service setting is, as I believe in trying to tweak my system to improve battery life I might have disabled this as well, and I can't remember where that setting is located.
