Root Radioactive FroYo ROM v1.8.4 **9.2 MFLOP** **Moment-Acclaim Hybrid**

Phone has been going for about 11 hours and now in the yellow. Battery life is a lot better then yesterday. Still no way I can get 24 hours of use out of this phone and still use it. I was running off a rooted 2.1 that was recently flashed about a month ago so should be DE03.

Depends heavily on usage, I've had my moment last a couple days but all it did was get checked periodically and most of the time sat there un-touched. Yesterday I managed to kill it in about 6 hours from just texting and I didn't think I was texting that much. It seems to kill the phone pretty quickly.

I would give it a couple of days. I would also restart your phone maybe 4-5 times. I personally feel that my phone worked better, faster, and lasted longer after I did this. If you do decide you want to go back to stock or other Rom, then yes you reinstall 2.1.

Why should I have to restart my phone 4-5 times? I can see once, but 4-5 is a little unnecessary IMO. Today if I have my keyboard open, I can't unlock my screen, the screen just turns on and off. Plus I unplugged my phone at 8 am, and it's almost in the yellow already and I've only sent about 4 text messages.

I am running .6 and DLing .7 now. I've noticed my computer doesn't see my Moment now when I plug in the USB, am I missing something (probably something obvious)? Additionally, I would like the Sprint TV and the My Video Places back. Shouldn't there be an APK on my phone for those, so I can reinstall them?

Thanks for your time Phandroids.

I've noticed that anything that uses the data connection (texting, downloading apps, web browsing, etc) seems to kill the battery very quickly.

My guess (and this is a completely stupid guess from an uninformed user, so take it for what it's worth) is that it's due to the antenna issues. The phone seems to have to work very hard to maintain a signal, and all that work is taxing.

More on topic with this thread, I've had pretty good luck with this ROM so far. Definitely the smoothest I've ever used. If anybody is going from an older version to a later version, I would recommend flashing back to stock first. I've tried it both ways, and I seem to get fewer battery issues (I've had some runaway processes again before) and reboots if I go back to stock first.

Uh oh. Tried to use goggles today, and all I get is a green screen. Also same deal with Layar. Used to work just fine before I put this rom on. I upgraded from a custom SDX ROM to this one, so is this a problem with the ROM, or do I need to go back to sprint stock and re-install this ROM?

So far pretty good. I do notice increased battery life. Couple things though..

1) Random reboots

2) When using a 'search' bar (android store for example), certain text input does not work. This is only when using the slide out keyboard though, no issue with onscreen. Rebooting phone seems to fix this problem.

Happy with the release though, just hope stability doesn't become a huge issue.

that is odd. i have not had a single problem today. it seems to run a lot smoother to me and the battery life seems a whole lot better. and i have been purposely using my phone a lot. between texting. using it as an mp3 player in the car. checking email. going online. and just plain fooling with it. it seems to be running better. i use to get random reboots with other roms and slow response to the point where every time i clicked something i would click it again thinking i didnt hit it and end up opening something else. Fortunately this has not happened yet with this rom.

I ran the 1.8.6 version for about a week it worked well enough though I did have two random reboots in that time period. I think all phones just sometimes do that. Battery life was ok. I charge every night so it was not a biggie. I could go rom 630 in the morning to 730 ish at night which is my work day and talk for about 2 hours and text and check email and browse the market. It was adecent battery for my use and was ok. My reason for not using it was I could not get GPS to find me. I think that is more an issue with the sprint nav update though instead of the ROM as I went back to stock and GPS worked fine until I upgraded to 1092 version from 1088. But I am happy as it is easier to theme of the stock template as well.

I'm gonna have to dump it. Every time I reboot it loads up a ton of apps that I have to kill, and my battery life sucks. Also, half the time it turns GPS on and I can't turn it off.

I'm not selling the rom, but this isn't normal. What's running that has to be killed? I would guess that the the gps thing and battery life are connected? I've used this rom off and on since 1.3 and haven't had these issues.

The random reboots appear to be caused by the jit. The older implementations used to reboot a lot, the newer not as much. There's some evidence that with the 2.2 jit, the reboots will not occur after the first few if at all. Unfortunately, with the exception of a few rom versions that broke the gps and were quickly fixed, I haven't found a rom/kernel/app/file that improves the pathetic gps in this phone.

Another issue I've come across that relates to noobnl's rom and probably most SDX based roms since they probably contain the same battery meter code. I was getting great apparent battery life with the meter staying above 80% for a long time. After that the phone would seem to drain quickly through to 35% and then almost instantly go to 5% shutting off the back light. I read that the meter can be trained by allowing the phone to completely drain and fully charge a couple of times. Last night I tried to drain the phone. After hitting the 5% backlight off, I played jewels for a half hour, then played youtube video's for another hour or so and couldn't get the phone to shut down. I gave up, plugged the thing in (can't start the day dead) and went to bed. Obviously, the meter is off more than I ever imagined. I'm going to try again tonight when I get home.

Your going to run into a lot of rumors about battery codes and what not. Numus wrote a code to support 5% readings in the kernel that joey originally included. That works well with the themes that show 5% increments.(thanks to khanning) What a lot of people see as bad when running the newer roms is most are taking files and libs from other phones as well as different frameworks. They are made to run faster on the same battery so when you run RADFROYO for an hour it will drop faster than just the Stock 2.1. The same for lower battery levels. Running at high performance from 45% will drop quickly to 20% or lower faster on RADFROYO than on stock. When I was on RADFROYO I was still going from 100% to about 45% from 630am to about 730 pm and then sitting on the table at night or tethering finished it off rather quickly in the evening. Also the two reboots I experienced were also under 45% battery life remaining. Otherwise RADFROYO was fine for a ROM and I would go back if GPS would work better on that ROM for me.

i'm getting 15-18 hours easily with heavy use with this rom, and 20+ with lighter use (longest i've gone is 40 with very light use). but it took a few days and a few charges before i was able to get that kind of battery life though. and gps works just fine for me as long as i run the gps status app first. it's annoying to have to do that, but it makes the function work, so whatever needs to be done i guess.

I've had to do that since my HTC Touch days. Sometimes my GPS will lock on quickly sometimes it takes forever. But most of the problems it seems have come after the "Official" release of 2.1 My DD10 GPS worked perfectly.
