Verizon states there was no update for Incredible

I know there are a million update topics already, just wanted to pass along something I found out

I just got off the phone with a member of the verizon Wireless higher ups, Mr. Avram Polinsky, Executive Relations Coordinator at Verizon Wireless, in regards to an e-mail I sent to CEO Lowell McAdam about the July 16th update. I was told there was no update for the Incredible. The only update was for the Eris. He said there is an update being worked on but he couldn't state when that is going to be released. He said there was no update coming in the immediate future. (Guess that squashes the Froyo Rumors) I talked with him about the signal and call quality issues and he stated that HTC and Google were working on the issue. He also stated he was on the various blogs and is aware of the rumors going around. He apologized for the mis-information and stated the persons who gave the bad information about the July 16th update would be dealt with. So to sum it all up, according to Verizon Wireless Executive Relations, there was no July 16th update, it was an Eris update only, and there will be no updates in the immediate future. There is one in the works, however he has no idea when it will be released, and when it does, it will take about a week to reach everyone, so it doesn't overload the system.

Just an update for those who care. I think we all knew there was no update released. Its nice to get that confirmed by Verizon Wireless Corporate though.

I sure hope theres something coming soon. According to Verizon Executive Relations people theres and update being worked on but not going to be released in the immediate future. So we are left guessing again I guess. That statement still sounds like august could still be possible, immediate future to me is a couple weeks.

So for now, it's "You'll see it when you see it".

I'd actually rather have that then be promised a date and have it missed.

As for the persistent rumor threads, I take them all with a grain of salt and enjoy the ensuing entertainment they always guarantee to generate.

It was already leaked Campus, I'm on it right now :)

Never questioned it being leaked or not. Just passing along what big red is saying. There saying there was no update and will be no update in the immediate future. Guessing referring to the official OTA Release. I know 2.2 has been leaked. If I was good at that stuff it would be on mine now.

Sounded like Verizon people are going to be reprimanded for the July 16th rumor and mis information. He said the situation will be used as a training opportunity too, what ever that means?? The conversation with the person didn't seem scripted, I could be wrong though.

adrynalyne nails it:

Based on the issues people are having and no actual radio with the file (not to mention you have to root), this is a test rom that got out in the wild and modded.

Best bet is September for 2.2, and a lesser chance for August. The state of the leaked rom actually has me more leaning towards September, since there is no way this is near ready for publishing.

Current state, VZW support would be flooded with calls.

No idea why HTC would be the one to roll it out but with this much fuel the fire has to get started soon and not 2 months from now. Read into it what you will, I believe this update will be sooner than later.

Check out engadget's latest.

HTC beginning Froyo rollout tomorrow? Maybe, maybe not -- Engadget
Um guys? I know it's been said here about 326 times, but here goes again:

HTC doesn't roll ANYTHING out to a Verizon branded phone. Verizon does, and only after it goes through their internal QA. HTC has absolutely zero say in when the rollout happens.

im on it too! VZW PR is horable.... they just dont want to get in a trap if they tell someone it will be out next week and its not. So far i have not found any bugs with the 2.2 rom so im thinking it will release soon.

If you are referring to the current 2.2 test rom people are installing, that is not a leak of an official OTA.... Do you have somethin' else?? Are you all holding out on us?!?  :p :) ;)

Actually, quite a few people appear to think the rom is the OTA and are surprised when they have issues.
