Bundled newest version of Google Maps (Places, Navigation, Latitude, and Maps Programs) Maps Icon
Installation file is now in update.zip format; compatible with both SPRecovery & Clockworkmod. Installation is also much simpler now.

I've pretty much ported the smoked glass theme we all have come to know and love and packaged it into a pretty awesome FRG01B Based Froyo ROM. This is an update to my original posting found here:

Instructions...

Backing up...
Google saves your contacts, programs, settings, and bookmarks on the cloud.
You can double-back up program with Titanium backup, which will also backup application settings
You can back up text messages with a market app called "SMS Backup & Restore".

File is in the UPDATE.ZIP format.

Clockworkmod
Place the file you downloaded anywhere on the SD Card. Easiest place would be the root directory.
Chose "Install zip from sdcard" from the main menu
Select "Chose zip from sdcard"
Browse to the file (SG51-update.zip) and select it. Confirm the install, let it do it's magic.
Reboot.

SPRecovery
Rename the file you downloaded to update.zip and place it in the root of the SD Card.
Select Install from the main menu
Select Allow update.zip Installation
Select Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
Reboot.

If you are running the most recent version of my ROM, you may not need to wipe data/cache (factory reset). It's never a bad idea though. If you bootloop, that is the reason.

Its a nandroid backup.
Assuming you have sprecovery...
Unzip the file.
Place the unzipped folder in /sdcard/nandroid
reboot into recovery
go to backup/restore
Advanced restore
Select the froyogrg01bv50sg folder
Hit restore

Its also a good idea to factory reset/wipe data before restoring

Great work! Running nice and smooth, no hiccups so far, been running it for an hour now. It is running a little hotter then I'm used to, but I'm gonna give it time to settle down over night. Just wondering if other kernels can work with this ROM? Just in case.

Any froyo kernels will work. My favorite for shear performance is jdlfg's...for a balance of performance and battery Chevy's.

Its a nandroid backup.

Yeah I did that 4 times and continue to get the same response. Don't, have any idea why.

Thanks dew912, seems like my phone has settled down now and running nice a cool. Couple little things I found not working is the world clock and the alarm clock apk you provided in here. The alarm clock just doesn't install at all for me and I get a force close every time I try to put a world clock widget up. So I uninstalled them and everything is nice and smooth now. The alarm clock from the clock apk works just fine.

All it says is error restoring system.

Will this work with clockwork or is it strictly sprecovery?

SPRecovery. CWM Recovery and SPR are, for the most part, incompatible with each other. If it says SPR you need SPR.

If you have ROM Manager, then you can flash SPR onto your phone, replacing CWM, and then go forward from there with the instructions.

I think they're a good balance between performance & battery

The priority number does not matter as long as they are in this sequence

When I flash to SPRecovery and boot into recovery it still comes up as ClockWorkMod. When I open ROM Manager it says I am running SPRecovery though. Is there some special way I have to get into SPRecovery once flashing the alternate recovery?

If this is happening, I would advise deleting the recovery first before you reflash it, however you can now use Clockwork to install this ROM.

I have this rom and it seems to be running fine. I just installed it on a friends phone and hes having all kind of trouble downloading from the market. I installed the market fix and still no dice. He needs setcpu and cant get it because of the market problem.
Anyone have any recommendations.

Try factory reset before install.

So I installed this rom last nite and just tried to restore my backup through clockwork mod. It hanged on the boot logo, rhen eventually just rebooted. Clockwork said recovery broken, Pulled the battery and tried to boot into recovery x+power . Same thing happend please help

nevermind, i had to check iunder settings erase recovery when flashing, and reflashed cw, all better
