So here is my story, I have a Droid1 and while at the zoo the camera stopped working. So I called Verizon and decided to get the X upgraded instead with a discount. So me being sly and not knowing about the back order gave them my hotel address and she promised me it would be there within 3 days (this was Tuesday of last week). So obviously it didn't come because of the back order but now comes the real pain in my butt part of this story.

So I called Verizon and they say they can't change the address until the package actually ships. Doesn't that sound stupid? Basically what you are telling me is that instead of changing the address before it ships you are now going to ship it knowingly to the wrong place and THEN make FedEx change it. So anyway, the phone finally shipped and I called Verizon again and had the package re-routed to my real address in Illinois. They said no later than the original delivery date which is the 29th. I was like wow that's pretty cool and let it go.

So I have been checking the FedEx site this whole time for updates because I'm growing more and more impatient to get my X. This morning, (The date it's supposedly going to be at my house) it arrived in Nashville. So I called them and the person on the phone says yea it will be delivered today. This guy is obviously not a smart person because there is no way I am getting this phone today if it arrived in Nashville this morning. I know anything is possible, but if this thing arrives today I'll eat crow I guess.

Anyway, I know the X will get here eventually and I'm not really that upset about it. The whole thing is I am really disappointed with Verizon (for not telling me the X was on back order) and letting me ship it to a hotel address. I almost as disappointed with FedEx for not rerouting the phone when they got the call instead of waiting till it got all the way to Nashville to reroute it....I'm assuming they are actually rerouting it and not delivering it to the Hotel I stayed at.

to be fair, it was your fault for shipping it to a hotel. you can't be too upset.

What do you mean it was my fault? She didn't tell me it was on backorder and promised me it would ship immediately and get to me by the time I left. This was her idea.

I was trying to get a phone with a working camera by the time my vacation ended.

I would recommend that u reasearch next time because talking to a verizon csr is about the same as talking to a brick wall. You can't get useful info out of them. Its up to u to figure everything out but i can definitely see your frustration with all of this.

I believe the morale of the story that blubill is trying to make is that a VZW rep should know that the hottest phone they have out right now is backordered and should not have suggested to ship it to a hotel. If you went to a restraunt and ordered a T-Bone and the waiter took your order and said it would be just a few minutes and after sitting waiting for an hour you investigate and find they do not have any T-Bone's in the place would you not be a little upset and most likely never return there?

Seriously, you had the phone shipped to a hotel address. Ultimately it was your poor decision to do so that started this chain reaction of events. They did attempt to remedy your mistake for you, and yes unfortunately that didn't work out the best way possible...but you should have realized in the first place that purchasing an expensive device and having it shipped to a hotel outside of your home town is just a bad idea.

I can vouch for you. I ordered my replacement X on the 24th, was told it would ship on the 27th and to call on the 26th for tracking info. I was then told it was back-ordered and wouldn't go out until the beginning of August, but that I could call back in the meantime for updates. When I called today, I got the order pending activation message, but they still don't have tracking info. The CS was also very rude and said something to the effect of, "As you were already told, it is back-ordered." Yes, I am aware. But I've also seen quite a few cases of them being shipped out early, and I need to know when it's coming so someone is available to sign for it.

I was also told they wouldn't send me tracking info, and that I would have to call back for updates. Sure hope I don't get the same rude CS when I call back in a few days.

Yea, like I said earlier I'm not too upset over this. But I really wish Verizon had known the X was on backorder, or at the very least when I called that same night and found out it was on backorder they would have fixed the order so it would have shipped to my home address. It's stupid to me that they shipped it out KNOWING it was going to be rerouted once FedEx got it.

I'll get my phone tomorrow or Monday, I'm not sweating it.
