need to know if I need to exchange vibrant

Hi I'm new here so bear with me if these questions have been asked. I bought a vibrant and love it so far. But my battery life only last like max 7 hours if I listen to some music, text and use internet for a bit. My vibrant also sometimes lags and I already did the factory reset. Also my headphones sometimes disconnect from the jack even though they still plugged in. the music player sometimes the songs skip which doesn't happen on my computer or old phone. on the box it says the phone was shipped june 30 if it matters. I just need to know if I need a replacement because I'm still under the 14 day policy return. Thank you.

Doesn't sound like you need a new one, but that is your decision.

battery life 7hrs is normal, especially when listening to music, text and internet. Once you get over your initial new phone phase, and you use your phone less, the battery will last you all day. Dim the brightness, turn off unnessesary syncs, turn off live wallpaper, turn off bluetooth and wifi when not using them. That should increase your battery life.

Lag is normal, and is most likely the touchwiz interface and widgets.

My headphones disconnected also, I posted a thread about this. Simple fix, WE ARENT PUSHING THEM ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE LAST NOTCH! PUT EXTRA FORCE... push your headphone plug all the way down. Takes lots of force, but it will go down one more notch!

Music player jumping, i dont know about that one. Sounds like probably just software issue that should be fixed with upcoming 2.2 update.

Ok thanks for the quick reply but is it also normal for the phone to drop from 100% battery to like 80% if I listen to music for like 30 minutes? And sometimes some web pages won't load like myspace full site or like tmobile check billing information. It just says page cannot be loaded its says it probably moved or something like that

Are you new to smartphones? This is a computer basically. Is it normal for the battery to drop 20 percent when listening to music for 20 mins...umm I'm not sure, I haven't tested that on my vibrant yet. However, I have used the BB Bold 9700, BB Pearl, HTC Evo, HTC MyTouch, and now the Samsung Vibrant. All with the exception of the BB Bold 9700, have what non smartphone users would consider horrible battery life.

Are you sure it is a 20 percent drop in 30 mins, or are you over exagerating?

I guess if you are having almost a rounded up 1 percent drop per minute you should exchange your phone. That means in 100 mins or one and a half hours your phone goes dead listening to music? You said earlier you get 7 hrs.

T-mobile check billing doesn't load for me either 90 percent of the time, it usually gives me that error when my phone is running edge and not 3g. I don't know about myspace, I never tried it.

You should just evaluate your settings, how you truely use your phone, and if you are new to smartphones give yourself time to adjust to the learning curve of how to maximize battery life. I think this is something every new smarphone user goes through. Except BB users, those suckers last days with 1 charge. Then again they dont have 4 inch super amoled touch screens, working browsers, streaming video etc etc. I mean BB can do all those things, but not very well, so most people use it just for email so the battery lasts a long time.

I think your unit is fine, but if you really need confirmation, then exchange it, and when your new one has the same problems you will know your first phone was okay, and you can sleep rest assured all vibrants are the same.

Yea I'm new to smart phones coming from a sidekick 08 but thanks for your quick answers I think I'm going to stay with it and wait for an update to see if it fixes everything

I say do a hard factory reset not a soft one..if u still have issues exchange it before 14 days. Better safe than sorry. However, I'm sure its just a learning curve for now, all these smartphones have ducky battery life.

So ya do the hard factory restore..let us know how it goes
