if something happens

It would be a huge step down coming from a Droid.

Asurion will be replacing them with DIncs and Xs soon, I believe. Just hope your device doesn't die until the end of August or so and when it comes time to file a claim, demand one of the two of the aforementioned as it seems to be company policy for the Droid replacements.

after previously coming from the Droid Eris, I will have to say that i personally did not like the phone. At first the phone was great, then after about a month of using it, I started to experience HUGE lag on the dialer, when I tried to make phone calls it would literally take anywhere from 5-10 minutes to call them. Text messaging was laggy, and finally when I broke down on the side of the road and TRIED to call for help my phone was completely unresponsive and after trying a reboot just got sent into a bootcycle.

That was just MY experience with the eris and finally they switched me to a Droid. Don't get me wrong, there are still tons of people that are satisfied with their eris, but it just seems so hit and miss with that phone that I wouldn't personally recommend it. In my opinion the Eris is a downgrade from the droid.

My Droid just broke this past weekend (dropped 3 feet in a parking lot, shattered the screen). The insurance provider tried giving me other types of phones instead (I am assuming this is the problem you are talking about) because they are out of Droids.

I just went in to the Verizon store and did an emergency insurance claim and they gave me a Droid of the shelf.

if something happens to my droid and have to get the ERIS due to the insurance crap...is the ERIS ok? or what would someone suggest if somthing happens to my D1?? I want the DX

To my knowledge the Eris is not supposed to ever have Froyo. This alone would seem to me to make it a "non-comparable" device even though it was never a comparable to begin with.
