Folder titled "com" on SD Card

Loads of apps put stuff on your card. Its something we'll all have to get used to. I have loads of apps and no folder called com if that helps. It's not a system file

Cheers, mate. I assume you haven't downloaded an app called Mabilo in the past? I think that's where this come from. Looks like I can delete the whole lot as it's not a system file.

My one gripe with Android is that it can be a little untidy at times. Eg. Apps storing stuff on the SD card - even after the app itself has been deleted.

I'm a sucker for keeping things organised and in their right place!

I don't suppose there is a list of the system or default files which were on the SD card supplied with T-Mobile handsets?

Agree completely. My SD card is a mess. I wish there was a database of all apps and their file structure so it could cross ref and delete.

I'm glad I'm not alone. The only thing I could think of would be for people to post what they know about each app in a thread. The original poster could then edit and keep it as organised as possible. Even if wasn't organised in the opening post, it would at least be some kind of reference for people who are wondering what some of the files are.

just delete the folder, if its used it will just be recreated no issues. Unless you have saved info to it. like rss feeds may store cached articles there, or twitter apps store cached avatars.

Thanks, mate. I did notice that apps and games tend to create a file or folder if they need it. I deleted the "data" folder on the SD card as all the contents were FIFA 10 related. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it - the game downloaded something (as it always does when it's installed) and this created a new data folder for itself and placed itself on the SD card.

Just out of interest, what would happen if another app or game did the same? Eg. Created a data folder of the same name. Would it be placed in a pre-created data folder or placed alongside it?

P.S. I'm following you on Twitter as you're a bit of an Android guru! :D

yeah some won't work without the data beingo n the sdcard, these are typically games because the game data is so big, they often utilise the sdcard storage.

i would expect the dev to cater for this in his code, the create folder directory function will throw an exception, and he will then do something else (choose a different name). Those poorly coded apps my just FC tho :p
