What's a Good Backup App?

What is a good app to backup your phone? I'm wanting to get this before I update to Froyo just in case something goes wrong.

Basically, settings, apps and contacts. I already have something that backs up my messages and such.

Thanks.

I saw Titanium Backup but it says you have to be rooted to use it?

MyBackup or MyBackup Pro

It will backup your Data (Ex. Settings, SMS, MMS, Call log, etc).
It will also backup your apps (ALMOST all of them, but not the protected ones).
When you reinstall your apps it will also make them accessible through the app market again.

FYI, because this app does not backup ALL apps, I also suggest getting Appdragon. It is an app that creates a list of all apps on your phone, and then e-mails them to you. So that you have a list of everything, including the protected apps, so that you can go back and re-download whatever you are missing from the market.

Edit: DO NOT use MyBackup to backup your contacts or your calendar (Well, you can back them up just in case, but DO NOT reinstall them)! Because they are already backed up with your google account. And if you choose to reinstall those on top of what your google account automatically reinstalls, you will have duplicates of everything!

Ok what are the protected apps? The ones you cannot install from Sprint?
Basically they are apps that you cannot access unless you have root. There are some in the market and there are some from Sprint. Don't worry about it though, b/c you will be able to just go back and reinstall the market ones from the market (assuming you used appdragon to remember what you are missing).

Yea I had the space in it. Typed it with none and it came up. But it says it is a 30 day trial of the pro version. But as long as I backup all my stuff within the 30 days, I'm good, right? I really don't plan on using it more than once.

And will everything go to the SD card?

Weird. I went to my full version and searched for everything that the developer had on the market and didn't see it... Oh well, glad you found it!

Yeah, 30days and then it doesn't work anymore. And yes, you can back up everything to the SD card.

Also with every paid app, you have 24 hour period for a refund. So you can "purchase" it, and HOPEEEE that the update comes out today, now, very soon. Do you backup and update, then refund. :D

Thanks for posing the question, I was thinking the same thing.

I was thinking I should wait a day or two and see how Froyo updates on other phones before I kick mine off. but I don't think I'll be able to wait.

Ok. So 30 days and the app won't work but all my stuff will still be backed up, right?
Right. You just won't be able to restore them after 30days... unless you purchase the Pro version.

Does Mybackup backup scenes setting?
There is an option to backup "Android Home" but not to backup scenes. So I'm going to say no. There is no option to backup scenes.

There's a few good free applications out there that will backup your phone with automatic syncing. These are the easiest because when you restore your phone you just log into your account and get all your data back... Just go to market and search "backup" or "restore".

As long as you have a google account, all your paid apps are already backed up and all you need to do is log in when you restore.

Hope that helps!
