Sorry if this has already been covered somewhere else but I've searched the website for quite some time and I can't seem to find the answer. I picked up the Captivate the other day and so far I love it but is there a way to assign custom non-Samsung message tones? I mean for texts and emails, calender alerts. When I open the apps and go to settings then change alert tone only the Samsung preloaded ones show up. I can choose any ringtone for calling, just not messaging. I downloaded several apps such as SMS Pop-Up and Chomp SMS to see if that would give me the option to choose any tone but no such luck. My last 2 phones have been a Blackberry Bold 9000 and a Backflip and both those phones had those capabilities. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

My files > Media > Audio > *Should be a "Notifications" folder* (place message tones in this folder)

My files > Media > Audio > *create a "Ringtones" folder (place your ringtones in this folder)*

My files > Media > Audio > *create a "Alarms" folder (place desired tones for use with alarm in this folder)*

There are multiple apps in the market (and other places like appbrain) that have ringtones you can download- all for free. :)

I've got a problem wiht Notification tones and wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. I created the Notifications and Ringtone folders under the Media/Audio folder and saved some tones I downloaded from the Market. I can see the names of the tones I saved when I go into Select Ringtone and Select Notification functions. I select the tones I want. The ringtone for the phone ringing works fine but it doesn't work for the Notification. I'm not sure what the problem is but I'm expecting t hear the sound bite I selected for Notifications whever I receive an email, text, etc, but it's not happening for me...thoughts ??

Thanks for your help in advance..

ok, I dug a little deeper in this forum and believe I found the answer.....it's not enough to add the ringtone to the newly created Ringtone and Notifications folders...all that does it make the new tones appear in the list of possible tones you can select....you then have to
change the notification settings for each individual application. Do this by getting into the app in question, then hitting the menu button. That seems to do the trick....
