that question is kinda overwelming :D overclocking and free mobile hot spot are two fantastic features. Also the custom roms from the dev's are themed and optimized.

check out this thread ....

So my question is... whats the likelihood that we will be able to root the 2.2 OTA update? I have been trying to decide if I want to root or not, and if it will prevent it, I will hold off on the update until I make up my mind fo sho.

Thanks!

No one knows as of yet. It likely will be rooted quickly, but it's impossible to say for sure. I only say that because of Moto's recent lock down of phones (Droid X, likely Droid 2)...

I made this happen. By rooting and going to froyo this morning, I signaled the release of froyo to everyone else who had held out. It's much like the way I cause it to rain by getting my car washed.

I need to find out how to keep root when they send the update OTA.

Hmm. And here I thought it was me since I rooted on Thursday.

If you installed a custom ROM, the OTA release likely won't affect you. In fact you shouldn't even be notified about it. My understanding is that most ROM devs disable the OTA feature. I'm running BB 0.4, and apparently OTA is disabled for it. If you've got a different ROM, check with the devs.

It likely will not be rooted since we already have the ability to easily flash back to Android 2.01 by using RSD Lite and root that with little to no effort. That's actually the only option for rooting 2.1 as well. Nobody will probably even take the time to search for a root exploit. With 2.01 and root, you can can flash a custom recovery and install a Froyo custom ROM.

So take your time, you can decide now or later.
