Help Great App Idea?

So Im asking if this already exists because I havent seen a app that does this...

My idea is a app that will auto turn on your wifi when in range of a remembered connection and then turn it off and turn on 3g when out of range. I think this would be of great benifit as far as battery life goes. Especially to those that have connections at home and at work. Now I know its as easy as using the toggle widgets, but to have it automated would be nice. So if no one knows of a app that does this, maybe someone knows a app developer that might like the idea. Im not tech savvy or I'd do it myself:D

If I leave my wifi toggled on and my 3G toggled my phone always goes to my wifi places. There is a option for network notification maybe you need this checked?

that makes sense but doesnt that pull on the battery if the phone is constantly searching for a signal, at least thats what i have read. but i guess thats what the app would do. ill give it a try both ways and see. thanks

Yes, if you leave the wifi on all the time and there's no wifi it will use up your battery faster. The Y5 app uses cell towers to determine if you're near a previously configured wifi access point and will turn wifi on/off automatically. It will take a few blocks as you drive away before it switches off. I used it for a while and then decided to just switch it on/off manually since I stay home most of the time.
