but what does this mean to those of us that have rooted to 2.2? i read somewhere that clockwork will block this from happening. supposedly the update will fail, reboot your phone and the notifications will go away leaving you rooted. can anyone verify this? also i read that some roms will block this automatically anyway but im not sure which ones.

Most custom ROMs will block OTA updates, but I do not have a list of which ones do or do not. I know for a fact that BB blocks OTA updates. If you are really concerned I would install a custom ROM just to make sure (there really is no reason not to install a custom ROM, and I think you would be glad you did). I'm not 100% sure what will happen if you are rooted but not on a custom ROM.

I would be surprised if any 2.2 ROMs out there now don't block OTA updates, but I haven't checked them all. I've been running CyangoenMod for a while now and did not get an OTA update notification for 2.01 or 2.1, and don't expect one for 2.2.

I wouldn't worry about it...
