Removed Invisible Shield

And my finger doesn't glide over the screen as easily as it did before. I am hoping it is just some residue that will come off. Has anyone experienced this before? I tried wiping the screen down with a damp cloth but it didn't help.

I am not sure why people put these screen distorters on their phones, You can go naked w this, It will not scratch, I have had mine in my pocket w keys, pens, coins, and the screen is as new as when I unboxed this phone. Go naked and enjoy your SuperAmoled w/o it being compromised by a distortion cover.

I removed it b/c I found out the the screen was scratch resistant. I put it on before I knew that. Didn't want my kids dropping it and scratching it up.

It's a plastic screen. It will get scratched, it's just a matter of time. I had a nice scratch in the screen of my old Cliq XT the first week I got it just by putting it into my pocket with keys.

It will go right back to normal in a few days. I had some nasty residue feel on my phone but it went away. I wouldn't use anything to try to speed up the process except maybe some soft eyeglass cloth. The other thing that you'll notice is that the screen barely ever has to get cleaned b/c it doesn't hold on to fingerprints.

Do you really think Samsung would waste their time promoting such a high selling point in their phone just to encase it in plastic? You can't even compare this phone to any cliq. I had a cliq and that thing felt like a tank. This phone was built to last. My cliq, not so much.

There is no such thing as a scratchproof screen.
Scratch resistant is not scratch proof!

R u serious? Plastic, This is not plastic, Research first b4 u post.

. You are absolutely right. The screen is glass. Honestly I never even thought to look up the screen material as I was positive it was plastic. I mean it feels and looks just like plastic. Anyway, you were right, I was wrong and you are right that I should have researched this before posting. For this I apologize to everyone in this thread.

However, just because it's tempered glass does NOT mean it's scratch proof. I know Samsung says scratch resistant, but the bad thing about "resistance" is you won't know what will scratch it until you, well you know, scratch it. Sand for instance WILL scratch tempered glass especially in a scenario where there is some sand in your pocket along with your phone. A good example of this is what wipers can do to a windshield. Sure, the tempered glass windshield is almost infinitely stronger than the rubber material from the wiper, but given enough time, the dirt between the wiper blade and the glass will scratch it.

I still think a screen protector is a good idea on any phone, plastic or glass, if you are as anal as I am about keeping your screen completely scratch free, and this includes micro-scratches.

I hope it is better than that. I have read many stories of the glass breaking on the iP4 by falling on carpet and by falling only 18". Many stories already of breaks that really are suprising. One guy said he went to bed, woke up and there was a crack in his screen....haha.

The glass on the iP4 is a china doll.

First, invishield sucks. It's all rubbery and hard to slide your finger over. I do think they'll take it back and refund you.

I've always used a protector but am not here.

What I found it that I wind up looking through a plastic protector with scratches on it unless you change it monthly. I always hated that.

I never really had a problem sliding my finger across an Invisi shield, but then again I tend to have dry skin, which might help. Also, I've never gotten scratches in an Invisi shield. I think I'll make a new thread here in a month or so to see how the people that don't use screen protectors are doing. I just know that glass+keys+dirt+pockets = scratched screen though.

I've dropped my phone 3 times (yeah sucks doesn't it) from around 2 feet above the ground (falling off my bed ) onto hardwood floor and no scratches or damages.

You can make that thread in a couple months, but don't expect everyone who goes naked to admit that you were right.;)

FWIW, I got an invisible shield installed today and I prefer the feel to naked. It's something you'll either love or hate. This coupled with my gel case makes this phone feel nearly indestructible.

I put on a clearscreen from ebay and hated it. Texture sucked and finger sliding on screen was awful. Ordered a realook.

What kind of gel case did you get? How does it feel? Got a pic of it on? I like how the screen feels naked and if realook don't do it for me, its going to be naked and I'll just get a case similar to what you got but I have to feela gel case before I buy it.

I took mine off the previous phone I had it on because it adversely affected the battery life...I read somewhere that the material can cause problems for the antenna so it requires more battery. I have no statistics to prove this and it may not be true, but my battery seemed to last longer when I took it off and it didn't get as warm when I was using it.

I'm the same way. I find this phone to be especially slippery and hard to hold onto. The Invisible Shield type of material gives me a lot more grip.

This makes no sense. At all.

I just took off my ghost armor at work the other day. I forgot how nice this screen really is. There is soooo little friction sliding my finger across it while typing I love it.

Just because something is scratch resistant, doesn't mean it WONT scrath. You guys should still protect the screen with the screen protectors.

I've purchased scartch resistant crap before and guess what it scratches. My optical glasses, I spent almost 500 bucks to get the best lenses available, scratch resistant, anti-glare coating, light weight, blah blah blah. Guess what, my glasses are all scratched up.

Moral, protect your phone anyway with a screen protector.

Actually, according to the Dow Corning website, makers of Gorilla Glass, the Cliq and Cliq XT both have Gorilla Glass. I scratched my Cliq XT's screen less than a week into owning it simply by having it in my jeans pocket with keys. This doesn't give me great hope for the Vibrant.
