you would think that google would have had an amazing gmail app on their android os.

Gmail app isn't even as good as their web version! Long emails have sections truncated with... at the end and I can't see attachment pictures even after clicking show pictures

What a piece of junk!

i actually like the gmail app on this phone, but then i was coming from the gmail on samsung omnia, which was really bad.

i like the way my gmail acct on the droid syncs directly with the one on pc. if i saved a draft on pc, i can see it on my phone, and vice versa. if i view a new email on pc, my notification for new email on the phone goes away, and vice versa.

as for attachments though, i haven't tried with pictures. i read that it was working for some ppl and not for others, for some reason. i know that i couldnt save an mp3 file tho when i sent one to myself.

I would gladly pay for an improved email application that kept the push email capabilities and phone integration. The only email alternative I've seen is one that seems designed for Exchange servers (Touchdown). Are there others?

Road Sync/Road Mail...part of the Docs to Go suite. I used Docs to go on my WinMo phone. Gets cosistently good reviews, and I was happy with it for a candy-bar phone Office app.

wait, why would a gmail app for phones be better than the web one?

edit: for another view of gmail, you can log in via the web browser.

.

I think that's what he's saying...that the gmail experience in the web browser is better than the app.

I happen to like the app (I have no problems with "push", I get my emails on time all the time), however there are issues

1.)Downloading Attachments. In the app, you can only save pics to your phone. In the web browser you can save all attachments.
2.) Uploading attachments. In the app you can only upload pics; in the web browser you can't upload any thing at all. :(

Other than that I love the Gmail app. There's also no "select all" but I almost never use that feature so it's not something I'm missing on the phone.

menu button + a = select all
menu + c = copy
menu + v = paste
shift + del = delete line

most windows short cuts are there on the hard keyboard, give them a shot. just sub menu for ctrl.

I meant select all emails at once (i.e. empty a complete folder/label).

But thanks, I had stumbled across the delete line command, but didn't know the others.

My two big complaints with the gmail app are:

Truncating text: this seems intermittent and not just because a line is too long. I was glad to see from elsewhere in this thread that I'm not the only one seeing it.

Reply always quotes the original message, and you can't edit the quoted content.

I think K9 mail solves all the isues everyone has stated with attachments, editing quoted msg etc etc
