Linking a credit card?

I'm trying to purchase Beautiful Widgets from the market but I can't figure out how to link my credit card to my account. Any help?

Well my university email uses Gmail, so I'm logged in at my .edu address. Should I make another Gmail account when it gives me that option and just have it on the phone?

I would say definitely create a Gmail account, and then you should be able to link a credit card to it. I'm not sure if there are any other email accounts that support Google Checkout, but I know that Gmail obviously supports it, so you could set that up even if you do not use it for email.
