Help with Goldcard

I cant seem to get the goldcard to work. I have tried a few times but it will not allow me to install a rom from the RUUs, I get the CID error. Im pretty sure im doing it correct because I don't get the format disk problem when I do the check at the end.

I just want to load the generic rom so that I can get all the orange junk off my phone and receive updates earlier.

I also tried the one click program but it didn't help me any.

Also on a side note, should I get an unlock code before I do an OTA update so I don't get this wifi/simlock problem?

Thanks

Adam

Welcome to the forum.

Yes it would be a good idea to get the phone unlocked first if you are going to use the goldcard method, there is a tool for that in the rooting section.

If you want to go the rooting way you don't have to get the phone unlocked, & you can use a custom rom which in my opinion is superior to the ota update.

There is a one click tool for this also in the rooting section.

Anoniemouse, I couldn't find the "rooting" section!

OP, I am having the same problem as you: the SD card is read by the computer but I get a "old version" error when I try to use my goldcard. How did you fix it?

Best,
asdf

P.S., I'm trying to root an HTC Magic, but I didn't see anyone in that forum with the same problem as I'm having. But perhaps our problem is the same.
