Help Does Android offer anything like Microsoft's Cloud Backup Service "My Phone?"

Hello, I am a life long (so far... but not for long!) WinMo user... because up until now (2.2 release of Froyo) I have always assumed Android wasn't as elegant, capable, and smooth as Windows (YES, I WAS WRONG)!

So now that I'm ready to make the switch... does Android offer any service, through my Google log-in perhaps, to back up all my contacts to the cloud (with pictures and files as well, or is the data limited)?

Thanks so much for any help... I am with Verizon and have had this sluggish Touch Pro 2 for far too long, and have an annual upgrade I'm either going to put to use on with the Droid 2, or the X! :)

The Droid X and 2 along with Verizon offer Backup Assistant which automatically backups your contacts online.

All of you contacts you add will also sync with your Google account so if you do switch devices, your old contacts should load when you sign in with your same Google account.

There are also various apps from the market, one of them being My Backup Pro which costs $4.99. "Backup to our online secure servers, or SD card, your Apps, Contacts, Call log, Bookmarks, SMS/MMS, Calendar, Settings, Home Shortcuts, Alarms, Dictionary, Music Playlists, and more. Restore on existing/new phone."

Here's the free version 30-day trial version.

It's a Google phone, so if you sign up for a Google acct with a gmail address you can sync ur Outlook contacts to ur Google acct and keep everything cloud based. Google Docs to create and store documents. Picassa for ur pictures, Gmail to sort, store and create emails Google Wave to combine all of these and share them in collaborative projects - the list goes on. Google is the ultimate cloud platform.
It takes a day or two to get comfortable with Google apps but it is fairly straight forward and intuitive. HYou'll be happy you made the change.
BTW, all of this is free. I didn't even mention Google Voice or Google Talk or many others

VERY cool! Thanks... I'd pay $5 for a good backup solution that would truly backup all of my SD card; but how can they offer 16gb (plausibly) of backup for so cheap (maybe they just backup contacts and bookmarks)?

Head = Spinning! This all sounds great, and MUCH more expansive than anything WINMO has to offer - I believe I'll be thrilled with the switch!
