Phone deleted all text msg threads...

Last week I noticed all my text message threads were gone from my phone! I have heard people complaining about this in the past and it happened to me. What is more surprising is that a friend told me today that his complete CONTACT list was deleted from the phone!!! What is going on with these Droids that are making them delete information like this?

I cant remember if anybody has ever figured out what the cause is for this. I havnt had my contacts deleted but I have lost all my text messages twice. I use Handcent SMS for all my text messaging, Im suspected at the time it was a bug in that software. After The second time I lost my messages I found an app for backing up text called SMS Backup & Restore.

Hmm, mine did the same thing last week too. Never happened to me before. My contacts are all still there thankfully but all my old messages are GONE.

A month ago I lost my phone log as well. Had every call in there. Was using wavesecure, but did not know that it had a backup feature. Now I back up phone log that way, but haven't figured out a way to back up sms easily. Thanks for the tip on this program to do so.

Hi. I know exactly how to help you. We actually just created a video about this on our blog which you can find here: 2 Guys 1 Droid. Follow the steps and it will certainly solve your problem, and your text logs will no longer become erased.

Explanation is simple. Long-story short, the database which manages incoming information overflows when you are recieving notifications and information from several texting apps. After disabling this, kill the messager that you don't use to avoid any further problems.

^ not entirely true. I use one texting application (the stock) and I will still get message deleted after a FC when I have all the options disabled as far as deleting messages.

I was having a similar problem so youre not alone. Actually had 2 problems. I was running Handcent SMS and it would freeze and wipe out all my texts so i got rid of it and used the regular texting so that fixed that. Second was shorty after I added skype I started to lose contacts out of my phone. They only reason i noticed it was it was people I have had in my contacts for years ie my brother. When i put the contact back in, it would not allow me to sync it with Facebook profile,I also noticed the phone would heat up rather quickly. Verizon did a hardcore reset and I havent had the problem since. I dunno if skype was interfering or not. I am still pretty ignorant with droid and all the applications
