Root Sticky ROM request

Can't find a thread like this so........

MODS - Can you make sticky sub folders under ROMS for Adrenylyne, Necosino, Jager, ect. That way they have their own sub-folder for all their Roms. And create a NEW CHEFS folder so aspiring chefs can post their roms. Once a new chef creates so many stable roms or reaches so many downloads they could get their own sub-folder.

This is just a suggestion. It may help us to locate our favorite chefs as well as help us find and try new chef roms.

I'm not ROMing it up yet Life comes first, and life has been too good lately to pull away from for ROMs (no offense, lol) But I like the idea, especially since Adryn has already released like 4-5 ROMs, lol.. I have been modding his though ;-)

Maybe once an official 2.2 ROM is released for the Inc, I'll start playing.. Probably not though since Sept 22 Final Fantasy XIV will be waiting for me after work, so you probably won't hear from me for a couple months after that, lol....

Still, I like the idea.

Hey guys, what I would do is post this in the Suggestion and Feedback forum at the bottom of the main page. Phases checks that forum much more often than our Guide forum and will give you a response. If you were to post there versus me posting in the Guide forum, you would probably receive feedback much quicker than me - go figure. I'm sure if enough of you guys post within that particular thread in the Suggestion forum and give a clear detailed explanation of what you are presenting and why, he will abide, unless he has feels strongly against it. He's pretty accepting of suggestions though.

(Just out of curiosity, when you say sub-folders, are we talking sub-forums or literally a folder to open and have files laid out?)

Edit: If Phases feels its unnecessary to add more subforums/folders (realize that we are one of the very few device forums that even have this ROM subforum - most of the device forums on here just have "Everything Root"), I can make a sticky within this forum for 2-3 of the main chefs titling it "_______'s ROMs" or something to that effect, if you guys so choose.

The main problem is there are a lot of posts in here that do not belong.
Anything that is not a rom post should really be in the everything root sub-forum or general.

If we give chefs their own sub-forums people will continue to post off topic and clutter up those forums as well. plus good info could get lost in these forums since not everyone will go in and look.

So we either need to tighten up the sub-forum rules and get more moderator involvement to move posts or just live with it and sift through all the ot threads. Its not like this forum is THAT big... just a lot of new leaks lately. (IMHO of course )

You also have to remember a lot of us (and by us, I mean the guides - who are incharge of alot of the moving of threads) have full day time jobs and can't be on here as often as we'd like. We aren't only in charge of this one particular forum, but are in charge of cleaning up the entire AF forum, so also keep that in mind. Let me know what threads need moving and I will do it for you to help clean this place up a bit until Phases gives you guys a verdict on the subforums.

As some of you may have already noticed, I took the liberty to move a few threads back out of this subforum and into the Root one. I understand that most of you want this one to mainly pertain to ROMs and not questions about why ____ isnt working or how do I _____?, so I went through the first few pages real quick and moved most of those out.

If you feel like there is a thread or threads that need to also be moved back out to the Root forum, post them here and I will do so.

If its possible, could the sub-forums for the chef be locked down so only they can create new threads. That way there will not be extraneous posts in the roms sub-forums. The rest of us would still be able to reply to the thread, so we can thank the chefs and/or report bugs. I don't know how much customization can be done with security.

I honestly don't get why he would vote against it... it would clean up the forums a lot...

You'd have like 4-5 threads in each of those dev/chief subforums. That'd just be a waste of bandwidth. This is just my take and I would put money that it is why it was not accepted.

I've already moved out any "HELP ME" type threads out of here and have kept it to mainly ROM link threads, so this subforum is already pretty organized.

I think you have been doing a great job keeping the forum clean.
Not sure why any more would be needed. only thing we really do need is the ability to edit thread titles.

oh i don't need anything edited. lol.
the problem is when a rom update is released the OP needs to be able to change the thread title to let everyone know without having to go through a mod.
since these updates happen frequently it is hard for them to have to constantly get permission to change the title.

oh i agree you have done a great job, i just think it would look a lot cleaner and smarter if certain dev's / chief's had there own section so it wasn't just a bunch of random roms in a section and such, Having run plenty of Forums in my time as a web host I just found that easier.

Cleaner, yes. But with 3 or 4 threads in those smaller forums, it'd be pointless. I think the ROM forum as is, is very manageable right now for most members. I think original complaint was that there were too many threads asking for help or completely unrelated to ROMs at all, and that has been taken care of.
