EVO is the only phone with a 4" or larger screen without a movie app

The HD2 had the Blockbuster app, the DroidX has it too. Where is our movie app? Vudu, Cinemanow, and Amazon (who already have an app!) should be all over this, what are they thinking?

The Samsung Galaxy phones might lack a movie app too, but the EVO has been available for 2 months and represents a LOT of users.

we have flash...what more do you want

And using that Flash where could someone rent a new release movie on The EVO?

This will be great but still is not what I am talking about. I am talking about rental of new release titles (and older movies too). Netflix is streaming by subscription.

Rockplayer Arm V7 + badass private torrent tracker = all the movie player I could EVER need.

Beats the hell out of paying for Blockbuster or Netflix.

Legal? Just asking.

I would love to easily download the electronic version of my blueray disc to my phone and watch it like some non-android phones out there. :)

I'd even pay for an app that can do this as well as the iPhone or HD2. :)

Completely agree. As I mentioned I would love to see an app by one of the big players like Vudu or Cinemanow. I really think Amazon is in the best position to make this happen. Think about it, they already have an app in the market that I would guess many people use. They also currently rent and sell movies on their site. If they build the app to access this content it would be perfect. Now that I think about it, I wonder if they use flash for the rentals and the EVO with 2.2 could load that now? I'm going to try it and report back.
have you guys tried m spot movie. They allow rental.
Never tried it but will check it out.

Well I went to Amazon.com and it loaded the mobile site so I chose the option to load the full PC site. I navigated to the movie rentals and was able to view one of the trailers in the stock browser, this tells me purchasing a rental would probably work. It looked pretty good but there was an issue. Once the video started buffering the page became completely non responsive. Eventually I was able to navigate again but it was never what I would call smooth.

I would be interested in hearing other people's experience with this.

This is something I couldnt care less about. I have zero interest in watching a movie on a 4 inch screen with not so great mono sound. It works ok in a pinch for a game or maybe a TV show, but I would never watch a full length film on my phone. I have a laptop or an iPad to watch things away from home.
And I would use my phone to do this quite often, even at home.

I don't do it at home, but when I'm waiting for something like at the car dealership and I do it all the time doing cardio at the gym when I'm on the bike or elliptical.

I actually do it all the time, simply because my kids are always hogging the TV. :) I'd LOVE the ability to stream Netflix, as I watch that far more than network TV.

i tried a program that could rip my blu-rays to the proper format (moyea?) and it worked, but took a looong time to do just a small segment, and was not as ui simple as i'd like. looked great, though.

negativity and elitism FTW!

I watch movies and shows at work, (while on break) but I just rip my DVD's and convert them....
kids stuff too, just hand them the phone in the car, don't need the portable DVD player except for long trips.
