I have the New Vibrant

Wow, what a screen

I was used to and LOVED the Zagg, TBSE, all those type protectors.. Great.

Then with the Nexus I got the anti glare, cause it looked unique. I actually thought originally it was nice, but it took away the appearance

with my next phone, the EVO, I went back to the Zagg. It was great.

Day one of my Vibrant (LOL, yes, what a roller coaster) I put on the Tmo screen protector, it is like the Clarivue I had on the N1 GREAT, but it is not showing off the graphics

I will be buying a new one next week. IS the Zagg type, or is there something else out there other than Zagg/Invisible shield, Best Skins Ever, Boody Guardz.

all the screen protectors I get leave smudge prints on them, glare, etc..... so I went back to my original screen protector that I used in a pinch when I first got my droid....

packing tape

it fits over the touch portion of the screen, it doesn't smudge, but will eventually scratch.... I replace it once a week. To get it on without bubbles, I simply take a credit card and apply it. It takes practice, for sure, but it's cheap, doesn't glare, it works

Hey wright, thanks for your reply. I mean that...Thanks. However, I have had a lot of phones. and been around the block so to speak with them. I have had the Zagg, etc. that is why I bothered listing them

I knew if I didn't that the others, so close as they are, someone would mention.
Well, those TYPE are INCREDIBLE, but they are all the same.


So too is the Clarivue and the one sold by Tmobile...But they are the opposite type, they are they Anti-glare.

and then you have the plain type, the type that you know, comes on a phone, or is plain clear and sticky, Seidio kind

Yours to me looks like the anti-glare kind, the kind I have NOW On my phone which looks BEAUTIFUL, don't get me wrong. But after seeing the games on the iPhone I want so desparately what I can get back to show off the best screen out there. And Anti-glare wont do that

So please let me know if it is not anti glare. I'd buy it in a sec. Looks like a high quality company

A few smudge prints bother you but putting packing tape on and replacing it every week doesn't bother you. LOL, truly.
The world is amazing and it truly does take all of us to make it go around.
I am glad this works for you. Trust me. I am sure I have TONS of things you would laugh at as well, say LOL, WTF, etc..

My two cents:

I ordered a Zagg that was the wrong one (for the international Galaxy S I guess; it didn't quite fit the Vibrant), so I decided, hell with it, I will just run with no screen protector.

Been doing it for over a week with no problems. It seems to actually smudge less than with a protector, and it's smoother.

I don't keep keys in the same pocket as my phone or anything, so it's hard to say how good the scratch protection is. But I think it takes quite a lot to scratch it. I'm sure everyone here has seen that Korean video of them testing it.

I had the tmo screen protection on for a week or so but then saw the video about how impervious to scratches this Vibrant's screen really is and decided to go without. It looks much better without.

(btw does anyone know of a game, possibly a simple game, that, like that truly shows off the INCREDIBLE graphics of the Samsung) (I see a lot of articles that say the resolution of the iphone "has It" however arent' there a lot of OTHER articles that say the TYPE Of screen of the Samsung HAS IT over the iphone)

That is what I want. The BEST clear "type" of screen protector either the "wet type" which unless someone shows me otherwise I love, or the dry type which I may get wrinkles on when laying down LOL

The best deal I found is the Stealth Guard Protectors. You get two full skins for $15. They go on fairly simple for a skin and the protection on my phone has been great.

There is no listing for the Vibrant on their site. Oh well, might have been nice.

I think people should still protect their phones. No where on Cornings official site does it say that Gorilla Glass will not scratch. I read their official site completely, the company never has made the claim that their product will never scratch.

Also look up the english definition of resistant. Just because something is scratch resistant, doesn't mean it wont scratch.

Also check out that youtube video above, pause at 3:06 there you see scratches, so i'm sure your phone will come into contact with something sharp sooner or later. Also if you look carefully, the transition time between 3:11 to 3:12, there actually are horizontal scratches from the screws. These scratches intersect the diagonal scratches from the razor blade.

the galaxy S is not listed, unless its confidential, which doesn't make sense because other samsung phones are listed.

Why take a chance? Just put a screen protector on

Zagg makes an invisible shield for Vibrant. They have one for pretty much every phone out there. I got mine in the mail yesterday and fit perfectly. Make sure to read instructions on how to install it, and you tube has some good tutorials.

LOL The point is that he tried everything keys, screws, nuts bolts, coins and when they didn't scratch the glass he carved it up the only way he could.

No one ever said you can't scratch it only that it is difficult to do so. I haven't seen a screen protector yet that doesn't degrade the image to some extent. But by all means, you know best how you transport and use your own device. If you don't mind the degraded image, protect it.
by all means, this is a matter of personal preference. But by no means can you say that the glass is easily scratched given what was shown in the video - The test with the plastic bags and the sharp screw proves that.

IMO I would rather use the phone as it was built with the AWESOME AMOLED display and take my chances given the powerful and proven scratch resistance of this device.

If you watch the video carefully the scratches were, in fact caused by the knife. The screw, also very sharp, left no discernable scratches. But let's not argue these points.

The bottom line is that you feel you have found a screen protector which will not distort the image, what kind is that? I have not seen one yet that doesn't in some way adversely affect the image quality. Of course, I haven't seen 'em all. So please enlighten me. And I agree to each his own, everyone is free to protect or not protect their valuable screens and that is a subjective choice.

Eric it was not my intention to disparage the purpose thread. If I could find a screen protector that would protect the screen without degrading the optical quality of the screen I might get one. Not just to protect against scratches but impact also. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any myself that will do the trick, that's why I read this thread.

Whoa, take it easy Sammy, I just wanted to find out if you had a recommendation for a screen protector that doesn't cause distortion or degrade the image in any way. And it could possibly be that a certain screen protector might not show fingerprints as badly as either the stock screen or another screen protector.

You didn't mention which screen protector you were using or planning on using that doesn't degrade the display. Robinelli mentioned that the Tmobile screen protector caused a pixelation effect in her opinion. And I agree, it did seem to dull the display to such an extent that I removed mine after realizing how strong and scratch resistent the screen truly is, not only by watching the video above but also with testimonials from jree and others whose dogs had munched on their Vibrants with no damage to the glass.

Look, if there is any degradation of the image, (for me and my personal preferences) I would rather risk (pretty minimal in light of the strong evidence) possible damage to the screen than go through life with a half assed looking Vibrant. Why not enjoy it as it was designed to be enjoyed? YMMV

I just got my realook screen protector in today, and I must say, probably the best screen protector I have ever had. If applied correctly(i.e. no air bubbles or dirt under the screen) you can't tell theres a screen protector on the phone aside from a slightly rougher feel when swiping, but that has more or less dissipated since I put it on a few hours ago. Definitely was worth the money, 2 sets for 10 bucks with free shipping on ebay, or u can get from Amazon too. Also comes with a clear protector for the camera lens too.

The second screen protector that is currently on my phone, I got from t-mobile store. Its a pack of like 12 i think, universal, and you have to cut them to shape. The only shitty part is having to cut them to proper size, if you cut them too big it doesn't settle correctly, so its best to cut them smaller than you need. They are a tad bit thicker though.

Oh and with all screen protectors, if you don't apply them when the screen is absolutely clean, or if you get even 1 dust settle on the screen before you apply the protector, you get a bubble. Thats the biggest hassle, making sure no dust settles before you apply the protector.

Neither have distorted my image.

Get Realook screen protectors. Comes with two and two camera lens protectors. Your finger glides nice over the glass. A lot like the original screen and your screen look dont suffer.
