Hi guys, I'm trying to change the wallpaper to a photo but everytime it just goes pixelated and weird. I've tried using Wallpaper Set and Save (works on htc hero perfectly!), but the galaxy doesn't want to know. The crop thing on the photos just makes everything blurry and can't use full photo.

Sooo, does anyone know how to resolve it (oh, I've also done the resizing too) or know of an app to sort it out?

Charlotte

Good question, I'd like to know myself what the maximum resolution/size is for the wallpaper.

The homescreen wallpaper should be 960*800 (double the horizontal screen size when the phone is in portrait mode). This is the same for any amount of homescreens (If you have 2 screens, each will show half of the wallpaper, if you have 5, scrolling between them will only move the wallpaper a little each time).

from what I've experienced, you should crop the image to 960x800 and transfer it to the phone without using Kies. Kies actually converts the image to 400x800 for some reason

Hi there - dumb question from an android newbie, but what folder do I add the files in to make them visible in the gallery? Can I segregate into separate "sections" to identify differing galleries or do they have to show up all together?

TIA

@brunster

just search for nexus one wallpapers with a res of 960x800 on Google, download a few, connect the phone in mass storage mode, In the external SD card create a folder called photo(just a random folder to save all your photos), create another folder of your choice(let's say "wallpapers")inside the photo folder, and save your downloaded pics inside "wallpapers".You should see your photos in the phone gallery in a folder called "wallpapers",just store various kinds of photos(like family, holiday etc) in different folders inside the photo folder, and they should appear segregated in the phone "gallery".Hope that helps

I have tried using pics with resolution of 960x800 but the wallpaper still comes zoomed in.. i am able to select the whole picture at the time of the cropping though.. but it doesnt show the same on the homescreen.. btw im just using one homescreen..

Thats strange!. I am able to change wallpaper easily and its not zoomed in. Try one more time that you select the whole wallpaper. Dont crop it. I change my wallpaper many times a day. It works fine.

so 960x800 if we want a single non scrolling wallpaper..

How about for images on the gallery, whats the maximum resolution for portrait images for the phone to display it at best quality even when zoomed in.. still 960x800 ?

( Like for example a 2560x1920 image will show the same thing with the max zoom level compared to an image size of 1280x720 )

Now thats for sure a issue. Its reaaly zoomed out.
Are you using only one homescreen? If you are using only one homescreen then its a problem.

One off topic question:
Are you using custom ROM? I can see some of the icons are of different color.

Im not using any custom ROM.. its just the usual JM2.. but the screenshot app tht im using is clicking pics like that!

Yes.. I am using only one homescreen.. so i tried adding a homescreen and its displaying properly! it shows half the wallpaper on each screen.. which i guess the way its supposed to be..

but the question is that keeping 2 homescreens for the sake of the wallpaper doesnt make sense.. anyway it will show just half of the wallpapaer.. so what is the correct resolution incase you want just one homescreen? 480x800 wont work coz of the compulsory cropping that we have to do before setting the wallpaper.. any suggestions?

I had the same problem. Tried a lot of apps nothing worked, WSS didn't work for me either. "Multipicture Live Wallpaper" fixed it, free app.

good luck

WSS seems to work just fine for me - I'm using Launcher Pro and don't remember if it did back when I used TouchWiz though.

so 960x800 if we want a single non scrolling wallpaper..

That's quite sucky. I actually use a second image viewer called "Large Image Viewer" which shows hi-res pics for real - Much better for showing off the SGS great display than the built-in gallery app. LIW can't delete or share images though so I have to keep both. :(

The app "MultiPicture Live Wallpaper" from the Android Market is the way to go. It can do what you want,...and a lot more, and last I checked it's free.

It works great for live wallpaper (with changing pics), or single pic wallpaper. Download & Install the app, then press the screen, select 'Wallpapers', select 'Live wallpapers', select 'MultiPicture Live Wallpaper', and setup the configuration as you prefer. Once it's loaded and running you can easily reconfigure it at any time. It's great.
