Samsung Epic (Evo competitor) preorders begin tomorrow (according to XDA)

Should be interesting....Sprint has been pretty consistent with not doing preorders in the past....

I myself would also consider the epic another Android phone...I thought I remembered reading several advantages/features that the Evo has that the epic does not.....the only real advantage of the epic being the slide keyboard for those that like it...and the hummingbird processor. As I have stated before....after the Samsung instinct and a few horrible Samsung tv.s I will never own another Samsung product.

Lol, I completely agree after the instinct was shitty as hell and they claimed it was an iphone killer. No good updates to the operating system the internet browser was horrible the sprint tv was unwatchable, they promised an app market and never delivered. Samsung will never get another penny from me I'm glad I dropped my instinct in the water last month and got the EVO.

LOL jcheney10, after a year of the Instinct embarrassment one of my goals in life was to see how well the Instinct skipped across water. I even went so far as to fore go the $25 that Radio Shack would give me to recycle just for the pleasure. My only wish now was that I didn't video record that "epic" moment with my Evo. P.S. it didn't even skip well across the water!

lets remember it was sprint touting it as an iphone killer, not samsung. It was no different than any other icon touchscreen feature phone. The Moment is actually a pretty decent phone, and I'm passing along my evo to go back to it as I wait for the Epic. I haven't used HDMI yet, and outside of sense cleaning things up a bit, I can't think of any real advantages outside of a slightly slimmer phone and .3 inches of real estae. At least advantages that matter to me. After owning a Hero and Evo, I've realize I don't care for the onscreen keyboard, swype or no swype.

So what were the pros of each device over the other?
EVO
Larger Screen
Larger camera (both)
Allows more devices on "Hotspot"
Made by HTC (matter of opinion)

Epic
Super AMOLED screen
Physical Keyboard
Hummingbird Processor
Made by Samsung (again opinion)
6-axis motion sensor
No 30fps cap
DLNA

Anything else folks want to add to either?

I understand that the video quality on the EVO is not as good as the new Samsung Galaxies. Not sure if that is a seperate issue from the 30fps cap.

Epic runs 24-bit color in all modes, while EVO runs in 16-bit depending on what you're doing.

If you're referring to this:
Droid X DLNA app

Notice it vanished after a complaint by Samsung, it did have a client but good luck with future updates.

You do realize it doesn't exist anymore right? And you will NOT get future updates right?

I haven't heard anything about it being pulled from the Droid X (I don't mean ported over to the original Droid like your link was). Would love to see something if you have information... either way I don't care, I don't use DNLA, nor do I watch videos on these things that I need on my TV. For that I just use my regular Blu-ray player.

You need to pay attention to more than one post. He was responding to me saying the Epic doesn't have HDMI.
so does EVO... right next to charger port on bottom it says HDMI
Guessing you meant "EVO can do..."

And eazail....really? Through what port? Does it magically sprout one when you put a micro hdmi plug near it?

It has DLNA, and unless you have other DLNA equipment to send the signal to, you're pretty much dead in the water.
The Epic 4g can do hdmi
