hey guys ,
how do i stop my phone from remembering user names ? granted its useful for some things ... but i dont want it remembering ALL of the words i input... just like google chrome does !
is there a way of either stopping it from doing this or deleting them ?
deleting my history doesn't do it..... also if anyone knows how to delete previous locations from google navigation that would be great .. thanks em

Hi,
Right ill try and help
open the browser (which is a slim'd down version of chrome)
press the menu button (the left hard button) select more and settings,
in there are a few options to clear, one being form data that will clear searches and u/n's also take a tick out of the remember form data to stop it logging anything. clear your cookies and cache too if you want to be fully clear of all data stored, BUT, this will make pages load slower as it has to download everypage again.

As for maps, no need to do it my self but i had a look around for you and it would appear the only way is to uninstall and re-install the maps app.
here are two links regarding this, has a number of fixes, that some have worked for some and not others, so might be worth a look.

Its obviously nothing sinister... you are just like that chap on the Windows 7 advert who wants to buy his spouse a surprise present so has switched on private browsing or whatever they call it;) Sadly the phone doesn't seem to have a way to do this automatically tho.

Not sure about the google maps thing... tried deleting all the stuff in app manager for that but still had my addresses in there. I will carry on fiddling!

It's now bugging me too, not that it matters whats on mine cos I don't intend to buy hubby any surprise gifts ;-) but looking at the link wynney gave there are loads of people who want the same. Gosh you'd have thought that google could have sorted this one out pretty simply. The uninstall updates does work - history gone, just about to reinstall the update (just as a way of flicking the bird to google I said I didn't want the updates cos they are defective - yeah like they care anyway!) Yup all reinstalled, no prob and defo no history there. Took about 2 mins to delete and reinstall so a good use of time if there are privacy issues at stake!

So why do you want to hide your tracks then???

I used to visit sites where you ahem... Meet for coffee and used to use a shared pc and deleted history.

But anyway what "ever" your reason for deleting history did you know that its not only windows 7 that has privet browsing. If you have dolphin browser go to settings and enable privet browsing ;)
