so i might be getting a mytouch, cliq, or behold 2 tomorrow, but there is something that bugs me. with the phones with custom ui's, like the touchwiz and motoblur, they all still run 1.5. and i haven't heard anything about them getting a 1.6 or 2.0 update soon or ever. the updates for custom ui's are done through the phone manufacturers correct? and i have heard samsung generally doesnt support their phones after released, would this be the case for the b2?

well, i recently got the cliq.. first of all, i LOVE it!! if you do a lot of social stuff(Facebook, twitter, Myspace, etc), i would highly recommend this phone..i had the same question as you when i first got my cliq.. i contacted Motorola PR and they told me that they are considering skipping donut (android 1.6) and going straight to eclair(android 2.0).. this is still unconfirmed, but they assured me that the cliq WILL receive OS updates.. just not as fast as normal android phones (g1, mytouch, Samsung moment) without custom UIs (motoblur, htc's sense UI).. it will take more time for the manufacturer to modify the UI to run properly with the update..

does that answer your question?

yes, thank you very much. now im just curious as to how good the hardware has to be for 2.0 to run smooth

Ah!! Hardware!! There's ab interesting subject.. right now, the only android phone said to not have the capacity to hold eclair is the g1, because of its internal storage.. eclair apparently is too large for the g1's storage to hold. As far as I know, all the other abdroid handsets work with eclair (or will, anyway, if they get the update..)

Not 100% accurate. It MAY be true for some STOCK G1s. There has not been a direct answer to , that I have been able to find. There just isnt enough info out there to back this up. Instead lets wait till its acctually released before we say it wont fit or not.

However some of us are all ready running parts of 2.0 and there are no issues.
