Help App appears to be downloading but is not

I tried to download GeoRecorder. The install failed. Yet, when ever I go to the GeoRecorder site in the Android Market it looks like the app is trying to install. Nothing is happening, but the only option I have is "cancel download".

If I select "Cancel Download", I get the message "Sorry! The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force Close.

If I select "Force Close" it takes me back to "downloads" in Market.

I am able to download other apps.

What to do to get rid of this issue?

Yo! I had the same problem as you did. What worked for me;

1) Uninstalled the app
2) Used Task Killer app to kill everything.(Market, Appbrain etc)
3) Re-opened up the market, hit up the download section(it should still show the downloading app)
4) Canceled the downloading app and it went back to normal :D

Then just re-install the app that got stuck. Hopefully it works for ya bud.

Thanks but my situation is a little different. The app never did install, but it keeps trying to install. I kill Market but as soon as I open it, the app tries to download and then freezes. I can download other apps though.

My solution is to kill market and avoid it.

Having the same issue.
The original update attempt seemed to just stall and NEVER complete. So I cancel the download and it causes the 'com.android.vending' stopped message.
I uninstalled the app in question, went into the Market settings and FC'd it and then cleared the cache...then went back and tried to re-install the app - Now, at the bottom, instead of it saying to "Install", I only have the option of "cancel download". If I click on the 'cancel download', it generates the error message.

Really getting frustrating.
