I just got off the phone with VZW - I was calling to see if they could give me anything concrete on when I could see an improvement in call quality.. if that little evrc-b programming thing is safe, etc.
Here is what I was told, in parts, from a tier 2 tech.
1. No idea when the update should happen. They have no guidance on this.
2.VZW has seen no guidance that this update is going to address the call quality issue, and that I shouldn't expect that this update will do anything to help in that area.
3. After I asked for a replacement DInc, the rep checked (took about 2 minutes) and let me know that VZW will no longer replace DIncs for this problem because it won't fix the problem.
4. After my big WTF?!!? and my "I need a phone that works as a phone," he indicated that he is supposed to take my information and call me Monday or Tuesday with VZWs solution to my problem.
5. The programming change to the CDMA settings is a "third party solution not supported by VZW" but "you can make the change at your own risk" and he further said that "if it were a solid solution, VZW would have that as an option for the many calls" they are getting on the subject.
I honestly am a little stunned by this response from them, and may call in again to try to get someone else to verify this. I Have never been told before that there simply isn't a fix, and that they would call me back in a few days to let me know what the fix would be.
Anyone else having a similar response? Was this rep on target?
