This app is pretty sweet. I like that you can scan a bar code and you can see prices for the item at different locations.

Although lots of fun, I'm still trying to figure out if its really a help.... Seems they direct you to online stores that are ofter more expensive than the store your in.

Would be good if you could "choose" the store to compare with, or even choose stores within a certain distance of your geographical location.

But unless I'm reading the app wrong, it seems like its self serving hoping to direct your business rather than serving our needs to know the best local price.

I have a question as far as compatibility !

If an app is buggy, its always related to the OS and other people usually have the same symptoms until the get the issue fixed.

I haven't had a negative experience nor heard of one where on app clashes with another.

I tried it on an item in a grocery store and it pointed me to my local Target, where it was $2 cheaper...Could have to do with location...I'm in Southern California...

Just started using Locale and love it. Also like the Google Places Directory. Thus far, I would have to say my all time favorite has to be Pandora Radio. I listen to it all the time at work and at home (paid subscription) and now that I have it on my G1 I can hook it into my car via bluetooth and get Pandora on the go. Kills my battery but then again, that's why God invented the car charger.

Have they improved the Android app so that the next song loads in the background like iMeem? I found that Slacker and Pandora at launch didn't do that. (tried Slacker again today, no dice on that yet.) I want that continuous musical experience.

Yhats ok.. thats gonna happen one way or another no matter what... everyone is free to suggest what they want in the way they want.. its up to the jury to judge whether its worthy of merit.

I don't mind as long as its really their favorite app!

But whether for profit or for preference, I invite suggestions if they are honestly cool apps.

Its pretty hard to know trash from good.

At least by posting here others can confirm or deny that its worthy of consideration.

Based on the title alone, I would have never considered GDE, but after reading so much about it, Im going to check it out... same for shopsavey and a few others...

Like most movies.. its hard to judge an app based on its title.

I general I think your right, and I'm very new to this world and so I can only state my objective opinion and realize I'm not as sensitive to the struggles on these particular forums.

I am a member of many other forums that have similar struggles however.

In this particular case I didn't feel I was being spammed nor that the point of interest was a distraction from the thread..... just my opinion of course.

I for one use Firefox exclusively and also use it on my ironkey at work and now that I have the droid I am forced to use another browser with its limitations.

I for one saw it as good news and welcomed news... in many other instances I too could have been annoyed feeling like someone was trying to force their little project down my throat for profit.

I'm assuming this app will be open source as the original Firefox and open source apps I don't see as "for profit" like the others.

Maybe I'm wrong in my assumptions.

Again, I don't have a problem with app developers posting stuff about their apps.

I was referring to a guy posting a link to his own website that just lists a bunch of apps. It claims to show the "top rated" apps, but it's nothing more than page after page showing 3-apps at a time, with a brief sentence about each one.

There are no real reviews of the apps, and no actual ratings for any of them, so the site is no more useful than the tens of other sites that do the same thing, and navigating it is terrible, since it only shows you 3 at a time.

And he's not the developer of Firefox Mobile. There was just a link to an article about that on his site.

my favorite apps have got to be SMS pop-up for obvious reasons.

and also i love the last.fm app. its really great if you use the last fm scrobbler on your PC to link to your iTunes account and share all the data. This way i have all the music from my itunes (1000+ songs) on my phone without taking up any space because its streaming from my last.fm account. and it does all the recommendations and "stations" that pandora radio does. very useful app.

So far mine are -

EcoSave - It's a battery charging monitor and sets off an alarm when your battery is full. You aren't supposed to charge them past the battery being full, so this alarm tells you to unplug your phone, that the battery is full. It's awesome.

Battery Status - This tells you exactly what the battery life is, in numbers, not just the little icon that is built into the phone. Like right now my battery is at 46 power but I still have the little icon that shows green and it isn't as precise.

Screebl - Can tell when your phone is in use, and leaves the backlight on. When your phone is laying flat, it will turn the backlight off according to the amount of time you select. I have my backlight set to turn off after 15 seconds unless I'm using the phone. It's a battery saving app that runs in the background.

Flexilis - And antivirus app that runs in the background, it scans all apps you download, before you open them, to make sure they are ok.

Shazam - You hold your phone up to a radio (or you can sing or hum into it) and it tells you the song, artist, album, etc.

Most modern devices use protected Cells in their lithium technology and they are set to stop charging and simply hold the voltage without amperage being transmitted to overcharge.

In other words.. no danger in leaving a cellphone or any quality device on a charger all the time.
While Lithiums can be dangerous and explode if overcharged, unless you buy unprotected cells on purpose, there should be no issues.

My lithium devices that I leave on chargers constantly....
1. Mule 80Watt HID light
2. L35 35Watt HID Light
3. Xeray 75W HID light
4. 18650 Lithium Ion batteries in charger at all times.
5. CD123 Batteries in charger at all times.
6. Panasonic electric razor
7. Inova LED light that has Lithium Ion
8. 28 Volt Lithium Ion Milwaukee cordless tools
9. Milwaukee 12V hand drill
10. Every Cellphone I've ever had.

Huh, the lady at the sprint store said not to charge my phone all night since it could drain the battery and kill the life of the phone. I was so nervous.

She actually asked me after transferring my contacts, if I charged my phone overnight and I said yes, she said she could tell because of my battery life or something.

I've always just left my phone on the charger overnight, it's so much easier.

If that's the case, I'm totally going to uninstall that app! I wake up around 3 am to the alarm going off on the ecoSave app, and I unplugthe phone, but then I hate to power it off, so it goes the rest of the early morning without being charged.

Huh, the lady at the sprint store said not to charge my phone all night since it could drain the battery and kill the life of the phone. I was so nervous.

They do like you to give your Lithium battery a good healthy charge "like 12+ hours" to equalize all the cells before using... in case the battery has been in storage a very long time.

But Lithium in general has phenomenal shelf life with no memory... in other words, you can leave it near dead and it won't hurt it.

While its true if you drain a lithium battery to dead dead it can reverse the voltage and kill the cells, that really can't happen as these cell protect themselves and shut themselves down when a low critical voltage is reached.

In other words, when your battery acts dead.. its really not as it has protected itself.

They have made these batteries pretty idiot proof otherwise so many people couldn't get away with using them so successfully all over the world.

Some of these "techs" don't really have a clue as they went to a class and was either taught buy another clueless newbie or misunderstood the lecture.

Please check what I tell you or anybody else with at least 3 reputable sources. Talk to people that sell and deal in batteries everyday rather than some gal behind the counter thats trying to be an expert in everything while getting paid 8.00 an hour.

So if these batteries have no memory, is it true then that the "conditioning" tips don't really apply (the ones in the thread to improve battery life... drain down to 0%, then fully charge)?

Also, would it make a difference when you charge the battery? If I notice it's lost some of it's charge, and is at around 75%, is it fine to charge it back up to 100% before heading out somewhere, or should I only charge it when it gets really low?

Right now I only charge it when it's pretty dead (3% or less), but it'd be more convenient to know I could charge it whenever I felt like, without affecting the length of a full charge.
