Took me all of 45 seconds and comes with its own twist bolt. :):)

Now I slip my Droid from my car mount to my bike mount in seconds.
**be aware that this is used with my droid car mount holder. I don't think the snap on holder in the pic holds the droid**

Have fun!

I see, thanks for the clarification and the info, sorry for hi-jacking the thread :)

To the geeks out there...
What about something like this connected to a dynamo?

6VAC To 5.2VDC BICYCLE DYNAMO POWERED USB CHARGER - eBay (item 200503758449 end time Aug-11-10 11:33:10 PDT)

The solar idea is cool, living in the northwest limits the sun though. :)

I can't imagine a dynamo would work worth a damn. You have to pedal your ass off just to power a little headlight, so not sure how much of a charge you'd be able to give your phone. I imagine that you'd drain the battery faster than you could charge it if you use the phone at all while riding.

I could be wrong, just seems unlikely to me.

yeah...dynamo's are tricky and snapcase is definitely right that you have to pedal your ASSSSS off to get them to power anything up. Solar idea would be great for me though...tons of sun out here in the Southwest, and that bike mount is AWESOME...thanks for the link that is way better than keeping in my camelback during a ride because I can actually keep track of my gps info while my phone is mounted on my handle bars :D

Heads up. I believe the Droids are like iPods and such in that they need to "communicate" somehow through the USB cord. I bought a solar panel off of eBay that had a USB cable and electronics to change output to correct voltage. It would not charge an iPod or my Droid in direct sunlight (in Arizona). It puts out the specified current, but because there has to be some signal between the charger and the chargee, the devices don't recognize anything and they won't charge.

This is not exactly what you're looking for, but I have an external battery charger and 2 spare batteries that I keep charged up - so I can be going around, and if the battery goes close to dead I simply replace it.

I know you want a charger, but thus far this is the closest I can suggest.

Also, a regular dynamo won't do much, but if you somehow rework it with gearing so that it is spinning much faster than actual velocity, you should be able to get sufficient amperage out of it to charge the phone - and then using that device that you used earlier would also be used.

In the end, it might just be easier to go with the multiple battery option.

That would be tough keeping it charged on the Droid. But, I do like your idea, biking on trails and stuff with GPS would be fun! I kind of agree with johnlgalt, I would probably just use some multiple batteries, or maybe an external battery that you can plug directly into the USB port, so you don't have to waste time turning off/on the Droid.

I bought an extra battery for my Droid for going on trips and it has seriously saved my butt. Despite having technology all around us, you wouldn't believe how many times I can't find a wall charger or computer to charge it from on-the-go. Oh and it always seems like people want to call me or text me whenever my battery is below half-full, and I have no way of charging it.
