Widget Locker

You can change the type of slider.
You can change the slider location (depending on which type).
You can remove the slider.
You can place widgets in that 'lock screen void'.
You can place shortcuts in the void.
You can change the vanilla android slider functions.
You can do everything mentioned in any other suggestion in this thread, plus so much more.

Widget lock is great and all, but if you change the setting to stop your home button from working on the lock screen, it causes major lag on your phone. I had to turn it all. So now when my lock screen comes on, I can either slide or hit the home button....either will take me home.

Kinda sucks cause I want that button disabled, but I hate a laggy phone in the worst way.

How is Widgetlocker when it comes to lagging?

I have used an app that changed the lock screen before and it was horribly laggy, so bad that i gave up and went back to the stock.

No lag here... And I have a widget on my lock screen that was always stuttering/laggy on my samsung moment.

My only issue with widgetlocker atm is that it seems to have messed with the sense weather animation. No amount of touching or interacting with the screen will make the animation go away. It doesn't effect performance or interaction in any way, but I have to tolerate the animation for 2-3secs until it finishes itself.

I may give it a try then, I really liked the Eclair lock screen so i could silence the phone quick with out going into it. I'm running LP Plus, and dont use the weather animation so i'm gold there. It would be great if they had a lite version so i could give it a try before purchasing.

All paid apps on the Android Market have a 24hr money-back return policy. So download it when you have time to mess with it. I downloaded it, played around with it, then found a couple problems and returned it and notified the developer.

Then a day later I found out that the main problem was being caused by another app. So I fixed that app and downloaded widgetlocker again, and the next day they updated it to close a security problem I had found.

So... yeah. You can return it, and also take comfort that the developer is very responsive.

I'm thinking about getting WidgetLocker. But, not sure what I would put on the lock screen that would be useful.
What widgets/apps do you guys use on the lock screen?
I use these, except now I use Smooth Calendar widget (it's MUCH better, it looks just like the HTC 4x1 calendar widget) instead of that orange/black whiteboard thing above the slider.

Top to bottom:
Beautiful Widgets v2.19
Vibrate Slider / Flashlight Slider
Smooth Calendar (the thing in the pic is some whiteboard thing...)
iPhone Slider

I just got this today and I am loving it so far.

Not rooted so can't post a screenshot, but I've got the following:

Top Row: Brightness Toggle - 2 x 1 Clock & Date - Airplane Mode Toggle

Second Row: 4 x 1 Stock Music Player widget. (very boring looking, but I really only need it to pause the track or move to next track)

Third & Fourth Row: 4 x 2 Executive Assistant widget (puts all my calls, e-mails, texts & agenda on 1 tabbed widget)

Custom Slider: Left Slider = Unlock - Center Action = TeslaLED torch - Right Slider = Camera

Wallpaper: A nice lightning bolt image (static image, not live wallpaper!).

Only two (very minor) disappointments so far:

1 - You cannot have a different "beautiful home" widget than the one you have on your homepage. But I did 5 minutes of searching and found a nice little 2 x 1 widget that fit in well with my vision for the lockscreen.

2 - Sense widgets don't work and I find many 3rd party system toggles to be very ugly. But, I'm sure I'll find something suitable with a little digging to replace the boring ones I have on there right now for functionality.

Just one thing to be aware of if you return a paid app. You only get one refund for each app. If you dl the same app after returning it you will be charged and cannot then get a refund.
