I posted this in the main 2.2 discussion but there was no reply after a few days and I would like an answer thanks!

"Hi Guys,

Can any one give me some advice/help, would be appreciated.

I have a HTC Desire on Orange, it's debranded and running Android 2.2.

The phone is also unlocked using a code I paid for online.

Having looked at the screenshots of 2.2 I have decided I want to run my Desire without the Sense UI overlay.

How do I install the standard Android 2.2 OS without the HTC Sense UI."

You need to:

1: Root the phone.

2: Install a custom ROM without the Sense UI

The problem is that there (to my knowledge) is no way to root the Desire after the 2.2 upgrade.

Another, less intrusive, method is hiding the sense UI behind a custom launcher that can be made to look very much like the standard one such as launcherpro and adw launcher (search on the market).

Hello

If you updated to ota 2.2 you have Hboot 0.92 but now you can downgrade to Hboot 0.80

The is the site with guide Android Tutorials and Downloads

I have done it with the one of my desire, and it works great.....

If you desire is unbranded a genetic version you dont need a goldcard....

Good luck

Bit confused,

As I have downgraded the HBOOT, will it be possible now to install a 2.2 Froyo ROM, will it automatically reupgrade the HBOOT that's required?

Also,

As I am now rooted, I'm not keen on installing a Custom ROM, is there simply an official Nexus One ROM 2.2 that will run on my Desire?

Yes you can, when you install a custom 2.2 the Hboot will not be touched
