Who dropped your other Service for the Droid and VZW?

Well I have to say that my Girls ATT has some advantages but its only in a few select places. The internet from her phone vs mine is no match.
The Verizon 3G is working well. Curious when the 4 g is up and running if there will be an upgrade. IPHONE to Verizon should sew up the market place in June for sure. We shall be watching.

I still have AT&T with Moto Q, but my 2nd Droid still having 3G > 1x switching errors(no 3G at all today). I still can't get a speed test app setup on the Q, but its much slower browsing than on the slowest times with the Droid. I'm sure hadware has an issue. I think overall VZ's network is comparable to AT&T in my immediate area, but given that my Q never fluctuates, and all the signal issues being reported here, I think there is something awry with the Droid's antenna...or firmware/configs.

I had a unlocked nokia e71 on At&T and I can tell you I am regretting moving to Verizon. The droid signal strength and quality for voice is just terrible.

I will probably switch back and get a Iphone.

I love the Android OS, but the droid on Verizon sucks for voice signal and quality. The 3g data is good, but as soon as I place a call it goes downhill from there.

I'm just using both Droid and iphone for now.

I already did the switch back to iphone because I can't stand the droid voice quality. People sound muffled and the voice quality sucks both ways. I thought I'm the only person complaining about voice quality.

However, after a few days I turned on my Droid again and was like, WOW, this is so awesome compared to the lagging 20 second waiting for the messenger app to load iphone POS.

Now I'm just stuck with a decision to make. I keep thinking that 1GHz HTC Dragon/Passion might be the best of both worlds. who knows.

I switched from AT&T and my 3GS to Verizon and the Droid. Verizon's service is remarkably better. I had 1-2 dropped calls a day on AT&T and not a single one on Verizon so far. Being able to actually use google talk and not miss important GMails due to push also adds a lot of value to the Droid.

With voice quality poor on the DROID, have you confirmed if "Voice Privacy" is turned off? If off, you may regain some call clarity.

I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon - I'm on my 3rd Droid (rec'd 2 malfunctioning Droids, that didn't help me feel better about switching) but I am really happy with the Droid and Verizon - It took awhile to to get use to the Droid and what it has to offer. The web (3G) is so much faster (had a blackberry before) Never had a problem with T-mobile, but the voice quality on Verizon is much better -

i had an iphone 3g on att and switch to verizon. wanted to switch for the longest time because of the terrible network quality of att, everyone has an iphone, apple is the worlds biggest blatant vertically integrated monopoly and no one cares, and apple is so controlling i cant do even the most basic things i want to my phone.

was gonna switch and get the storm2 but then the droid buzz started happening and i went with that. i can say that i couldnt be happier with my switch and purchase. verizon is 100x better than att and while att might have "the fastest 3g network," you actually have to be able to connect to their network consistently to get it; which i frequently did not even sitting in my living room. so... verizon is faster.

maybe apple and att are right about verizon not being able to call and do data at the same time, but its hardly a dealy breaker and i'll get over it. there are small other quirks about verizon (like the 160 txt limit) but its still far better. and yes, the droid has its issues, but to be part of a global operating system and network of phones that is driven by the community is awesome. things will get better for android over time and by the time 4g hits, im sure it'll be developed to the point that more than just us will be willing to switch.

I have been on the same network the past 8 years: AT&T -> Cingular -> AT&T on two Nokias and one Samsung dumb phones. Those phones had great reception everywhere except for my home. I couldn't call/receive any calls unless I was on the second floor. The iPhone did not appeal to me as I've read it has worse cell performance than Nokia/Samsung.
Ever since switching to Verizon/Droid, I could call from anywhere

What exactly does the privacy option do?

BTW, I'm a US Cellular > AT&T > Verizon. AT&T was the worst network. And it didn't just suck a little compared to the rest, it sucked a LOT. I had one of their service reps tell me that my poor reception and dropped calls were because everytime I moved (like from work to home or home to work) I had to "reboot the phone just like a computer" in order to get good reception again because there were different cell towers servicing the signal then!! He said you had to reboot the phone at least once a day like a PC. Then I told him I worked in IT along side our mobility guys and that not only did their network suck, they hired a bunch of idiots for customer service as well for the total package! And that kind of customer service is what AT&T has been famous for since the dawn of time.

Reminds me of the times when 14.4K modems were popular (yes, showing age here) and AT&T told me they only guaranteed the quality of their land lines to 9600 baud when I asked them why my 14.4K modem kept dropping connections. Some things never change... :D

I know at least 2 people that had the iPhone and moved just for the Droid. Is your service better or worse.

I know the 3g is better.

I gave ATT a chance, really I did.

When smartphones came around, it was all new and cool, enter iphone 1st gen, WOW! Apple THREEG came out, tempted.... decided to wait..... friends adopted, had major problems.

Friend turned me on to HTC/Winmo.... WOW, first winmo was a fuze and it did more than what iphone did as a business user! Then got an unlocked touch diamond..... WOW, but I kept dropping calls, just like on the 1g iphone.

Switched to a TP2 on verizon and WOW, data speeds in real usage appeared to be 4-5x faster... they were! But I had the echo problem on the TP2, so that left me a sour taste.

Returned the TP2 and ATT made me a sweet deal on a PURE.... decent quality, still dropped calls, etc... but I could never get more than 700K out of the pure. Gawd that was frustrating, just like the prior phones... best example was full bars and youtube... on ATT it would play a bit... stop... buffer a lot... play a bit.... buffer a lot....

So on DROID release day, a friend got one in the morning. I had the day off so I checked it out, and WOW to the 1000x in my quick testing.

I've had this for what, 3 weeks and I still have WOW to the 1000x on a smartphone! To me, a tech junkie, this is a keeper, no problems, phenomenal speeds on VZ's data network (thank you back haul and home run network constant upgrades~!).

I heart droid!

My wife and I both had Iphones on AT&T. We dropped them both and went with Verizon and the Droid. I have never been happier.:D:D

This! Bottom line is that droid offers a LOT more than iphail, saying you have a million apps in a store doesn't mean they are quality apps.

I think Android Marketplace covers a LOT of apps, and I heard one new one will be out on DEC 01 that does picture overlays on GM for street view :)
