My phone is rooted. I was able to get rid of a few stock apps I did not use. However, now my phone is overheating, battery life is about the same as before, (short) and I cannot tell there are any tangible improvements with the rooting procedure!... Applications take time to load up, and touching screen to open them freezes now and then constantly. Is it the phone or is it the rooting that is causing the problem???

Are you running any ROM's, sounds like your a runaway process thats sucking up your CPU (this causes the cpu to work constantly thusly making it run hot) and therefore draining the battery.

I only followed the video's instructions to the letter, I finally typed su and the # symbol came up... Then I proceeded to uninstall/delete stock apps: bejeweled, email, moxier mail, sprint tv and calculator... At first I deleted the first three, then I learned I could copy and paste the apps in a deleted folder in the sd card file folder...

If copying and pasting ino the updater software is considered ROM, then yes, I have ROM apps in my phone now, other than that, I did not install anything rom related yet...

Im not sure which video you followed but never the less your symptoms would indicate some kind of runaway process/rouge app. Simply applying the root v7 patch (or even recovery + a kernel w/root) nor remove the couple of apps you mention would cause this problem. Your best bet is to back up your data and flash the stock DE03 with reocvery : Login : (using the sprint tool) and see if the problem is still there.

These are the vidoos I am talking about: http://androidforums.com/samsung-mo...t-2-1-rooting-video-walkthrough-tutorial.html

1. How do I apply the root v7 patch?
2. How do I apply recovery+a kernel w/root if I do not follow 1.?
3. how do I flash the stock DE03 with recovery?

sorry to ask so much but rooting kicks my a**!!

Download the .tar file i linked to above and place it in c:\program files\samsung electronics\swuprgrade\model\binary and run the update tool, this will flash the stock OS and recovery 3.0.8 all at the same time. Then u can download any update.zip you want and apply it from the recovery menu. You place the .zip on the root of the sdcard (not in any folders) and boot into reocvery mode (vol. down + call + end) and select apply .zip from sdcard. The easiest way to get a rooted kernel is either by installing a prebuilt ROM or using the ROM kitchen at over on sdx : Haxsung SDX Custom Custom ROM Kitchen

I tried the updater last night and was not able to make it work, I deleted all inside the samsung moment folder and pasted the file you asked me to download, and the software would not work correctly... This is definitelly a pain in my f***** a**!!!:eek:
