Help Phone storage is full. Delete some files to free space?

I think I have solved on my HTC incredible, which has 8GB, says 7GB remaining, but I get Phone Storage Full errors, and I cannot download apps nor MMS and other problems

I had my Exchange email set to download all my email and calendar items, and I think the storage was actually full and misreporting space. I set the email sync to get only 30 days, waited for a long re-sync (which effectively un-sync'ed many emails), and now all failing apps are working again and phone storage full errors gone.

Therefore
a) check apps and storage memory
b) check email (Exchange, Gmail, Facebook, or other sync settings)
c) look into optomizing those settings
d) see if resolved
e) report here on this and other similar posts

Is there a way to get things to save to the SD card rather than the phone itself? I'm really not good with technology, if someone could explain this in a dumbed down way that would be really good. My phone says phone storage full. I have deleted all txt's and apps, the biggest space user is face book. But i have heaps of room on the card, but cant work out how to save things to the card rather than phone.....hmmmm

There has been some issues with inc saying this when there is plenty of space available.
Go to menu>settings>sd&phone storage and see how much phone memory is available. total space should be in the 700mb range, ive got 225 apps on phone and still have almost 300mb free. I use app2sd as well to move most apps to the sd card which will save some space

This person got it right! A little more detail:

Go to Settings, then to Applications, then to Manage Applications. Wait for you apps to load.

Press one at a time. It will show the data and give you a lit button that says "Clear data". Don't be afraid, hit the button. It will scare you with a warning. Don't be afraid, it OK. Do this for all your apps. If you are scared, do it for the ones that you don't really use. They will still work and the error message will go away and you will be happy.

But be warned that this will erase any settings, game progress, accounts, or any other saved info in whatever you clear data on

I have the same problem, and no matter what I did it doesn't work; I deleted a lot of text messages, music, pictures and also cleared my call log and user data from some apps. I switched my phone off and on again and again and it still says phone storage is low, rejects texts I'm supposed to receive and doesn't allow me to open text messages. What else can I do? I really need my phone fixed because I'm travelling abroad all next week.
Help.

Does it say "phone storage is low" or "application data space is low"?

The total space in the sd card is 1.83GB, and 1.16GB are available; the phone storage has 10.57MB available.

sounds like you need to delete files off your sd card or get a bigger one.

What phone do you have?

Edit: it's been pointed out that you have 10 mb left on your phone storage, you will need to delete or move those files to a larger sd card or to another storage.

Sounds like the 10mb free is the problem. What phone do you have? Sounds like you need to utilize moving stuff to SD card and perhaps start un installing anything you dont use

Interesting timing. I tried downloading the Netflix app, and something happened where I immediately got an error that I was out of storage.

Under SD & Phone Storage:
Internal Phone: 6.60GB (5.42GB Free)
Phone Memory: 748MB (643GB Free)
SD Card: 3.69GB (2.11GB Free)

I constantly have a "Low on space: Application data space is low. To free up..." icon in my notification tray.

Any ideas?
