Rumor: Froyo OTA Update for DROID Delayed Until August 12th? (Updated) | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

good news is you can still root:eek:

They had this to say if you dig through the links...

Motorola and Verizon are pulling all FRG Froyo builds and ceasing any current plans to update to Froyo. Seems there is a problem between Google and Adobe concerning flash, rights, and royalties. This comes as quite a surprise to us as it will others.

Seriously? You would have thought all of those things would have been worked out before they even pushed an OTA update to one person. So I guess this means stock Froyo is probably a long ways off now if they are fighting about rights and royalties. I don't know if I believe this rumor.

It seems ridiculous to pull an update just because there is a conflict with an add-on. They still could've released the update and blocked access to the Flash extension. I'm going to have to completely disagree with not continuing Froyo for Droid. I mean, it's already out for other devices.

On another note, this doesn't affect me because I've been rooted since the dawn of time - not really, but since really close to launch.

I have to agree with you on this one. It seems a hugely bogus reason to delay and possibly cancel the update. I know it's the biggest selling point of Froyo, however there are plenty of other enhancements that we're all looking forward to. I personally am looking forward to the bluetooth voice dialing. http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/moto_droid.pdf
Follow that link to see all the bennies Verizon is claiming froyo will bring to the Droid.
