Basically im looking for a device to handle all of my music and maybe some of my movies, over 30 gigs of internal storage also.

i would just get something like a zuneHD but id rather have:

-android powered
-larger screen 4-5inches
-web browsing etc etc

i know about the Archos 5 and 7 but i havent heard many positive reviews
-the 5 is the most hideous brick ever and the 7 is massive with no memory so neither work for me.

any suggestions??

The SmartQ V7 has a 7" screen and can play 1080P to a TV via HDMI. It has three OSs and does media best on linux, but still has an ok Android.

You can plug an SD card into it. I've got a 32G card which works fine. Maybe the 64GB ones will work.
ive seen those and theyre pretty sweet BUT its too big for what i want :/ not very practical with a 7 in screen

well, there is the smartq V5, which is about 4.3" They're basically the same as the V7, but are cheaper and have an accelerometer. You only get OTG USB instead of host.
if only the specs weren't horrible /:

i dont think theres anything out there for me right now :(

if HTC made a 60+ gig evo that was a media player id be so happy lol

so basically you want a SmartQ V5 but with a CortexA8 CPU instead of ARM11.

But anyway, you're not going to get over 60GB of flash in such a small device. Wait a year and pay a fortune for 64GB or wait a year and get a cheap 64GB SD card.

There is the Archos MIDs with the PVR station. But they only do 720P. Still better than the Zune HD.

not necessarily. i just dont want an ugly brick that looks like its from 2002 with poor resolution and no internal storage. I'm not looking for a device that i have to pay for space because it doesnt have any. I'm looking for a device with lots of internal space HD based not flash with 2gigs

So you want a small MID sized android device which is attractive and unheard of performance with over 60GB of internal storage using a HDD, not flash. You also want more then the 800x480 resolution 4.3" backlit screen, (which is the most modern LCD technology) No wonder you think the SmartQ V5 is from 2002, you're looking for a device from 2018.

Well i dont know what ALL is out there and aimless google searching only gets me so far which is why i made this thread. it doesnt have to be 4.3" i just dont want something 7" or as small as the Zune HD. something with a reasonable size but still portable. The screen being lower resolution than my phone is also pretty sad which is why i wanted something higher and like i said before... that thing is literally an ugly off white brick lol. my Creative Zen Vision looks better and i bought that in....hmm... like 03 i think haha.
maybe a Dell Streak w/ a 32Gb card? bit pricey and you'd be paying for the phone stuff you didn't want
i thought the same thing kuz it looks reeeeeally nice BUT again im not trying to buy a device that i need to ADD memory too, that kinda defeats he purpose. and yeah i already have an HTC inc so it being a phone is kinda useless for me.
I was thinking about this, but it has a less DPI than the SmartQ V5 plus it is not LED backlit. additionally, it only uses flash. IT's also more of a brick than the V5.
yuuupp to bad the latter is only available in china AND only has 2gig of internal flash

Not from 2018, more likely early 2011, and quite possibly late 2010. The Notion Ink Adam does almost all of this (other than the fact that it's a 10" tablet), and is slated to be released Nov 2010 (though I'm not sure how much I believe that anymore).

My laptop does all this, other than the fact it is a laptop.

The Notion ink adam is another one of those products that seem cool at the time, but turns up years late and not living up to the original expectations.

Trust me, when the Tegra2 is released, there will be a lot of nice MIDs similar to this, and potentially a 5" or so device, but nVidia is really late on this and knowing dodgy Nvidia, they probably didn't intend to release until 2011, so they can string along a few dozen design wins. While Samsung and the like will have competing products at the same time.

@icurafu Yes, of course there are full-fledged computers that do all of that. The only difference between what I mentioned, and what the OP was looking for is 3". The difference between what you mentioned and what the OP was looking for is that it's different class of device entirely!

The point I was getting at is that all of the technology the OP is looking for is out there, and they aren't unreasonable expectations. Moreover, your "2018" comment is just ludicrous, and to berate the OP for feeling that there should be a device out there that meets these (reasonable) expectations is just cruel.

2018 is just a reverse of 2002. It's not meant to be serious, just as xxdc5's comment was the same exaggeration.

I'm sure it will be there in a year or so, if he can accept flash memory, unless the requirements don't move with time. I did something similar with my V7, using the 32GB SD card, watching all kind of movies on my TV over HDMI but it's not the same as the above requirements. Still I felt futuristic. :) And while it does look comically ugly, I can't think of an attractive device which does that. Maybe within a year there will be an attractive android MID at < 5" that's good for video and has modern specs.

I would guess it can only come from the big names, and they are avoiding the mid scene for the more profitable phone scene. At this time, I can only recommend the V5 as a movie playing device, but on then at Linux, and not Android. While the technology is there, the product is not there. Anyway, I agree I can be a jerk online something, so I apologise.

If you check here Archos 32 Internet "Tablet" hits the FCC, pictures and manual in tow -- Engadget

Engadget has some of the FCC pictures, it looks really sweet and just the android device im looking for. I do hope it supports tv out and works somehow with their previous accessories.

I'm probably uninformed on this, but why is having SD memory such a bad thing? If anything, wouldn't it be better? It is more flexible to have a card(s) that you can swap around to get different media, if someone wants something you have you could unplug card, plug it into their PC etc (no need for cables).

Why is SD memory so bad?
theres a few reasons:
-first and most importantly there are only 32gb sd cards at the moment and i have WELL over 32 gigs of music alone.

-second but just as important, if i wanted to store all my media on a flash card i would buy one, jam it into my Incredible, and call it a day. I want 2 seperate devices with 2 seperate batteries. Having all the cool extras of an android OS on my media device is just feature i would like to have on #2 as i shall refer to the media player haha

i saw that already and that goes back to the SD card issue. also the screen is a bit small. i would look past that tho if it had more internal space -___- but it doesnt

thanks for your input guys im not trying to be unrealistic or anything i just want to know what's out there since im sure as hell not going to buy an ipod touch. lol

Apparently theres a Samsung Galaxy S PMP

More Pics of the Galaxy PMP | AndroidGuys

DOWN!! problem solved lol. hopefully it turns out to be just as awesome as it has the potential to be!!! Hopefully the screen is a good size haha :)

If they start marketing it like they do their TVs and have been the rest of their Galaxy s line its going to work really well in the market. Samsung does make the best screens. I'm really excited ^_^
