i have the phone in my pocket this evening, when i get home i get the 'too many pattern attempts' screen, and when i try to unlock using my google account, it fails even i use the right account and password because i can login to gmail from my laptop.

what should i do now to get pass this on my phone...

** updates *****
i did some research online and found this solution, strange but works...

as stated above, i try my google account and a password, this works on my laptop, but x10 keeps telling me invalid username or password. so i type 'null' as the password and it WORKS.

next time if you get the 'too many pattern attempts'....you can type 'null' instead of your password.

Mate that is a seriously cool piece of advice! That question is asked soooo many times on the SE forum. Cheers!

you are most welcome. the beauty of this forum is everyone can share valuable info.

i sincerely hope my input can help to eliminate unnecessary stress for others when they accidentally lock their phones like i did.

Well the only advice that the Sony Ericsson moderator gave was to do a repair via PCCompanion which then deletes all your stuff and as you can't get into the darn phone you dont have the opportunity to save it/back it up. Nice to see that they are once again forging the way in customer support!!!

I have just posted a link to this over there, hope that's ok with you.

I tend to see the best in people so agree that it wouldn't be much of a problem but it does seem a bit mad that you can over-ride the password with the world 'null'. Interesting to see if it helps the person on the other thread this morning too.

The naughty side of me thinks it would be quite interesting to get on to a friends phone and fiddle with it just to be a bit evil:p, altho there would probably alcohol involved and regrets in the morning!

i totally agreed with you on that. i believe the 'null' password solution is purely a bug with the phone. after all, i doubted you can log into your gmail account with 'null' using your computer, right?

i am surprised the person who got locked out did not update his posting. one would think he/she would be anxious to find a solution, if not stressed to the max...hehe
