Root Launcher Pro force close loop

I have rooted my phone, tried to partition sd card although not to sure that it took since I could not get a reading on my computer, flashed xtra rom 3.0.3, was running Launcher pro and all was hunky dory although I could not get any find any of my apps. I ran a restore from My Back up and restored my apps which in turn also restored Launcher pro (again).

I am now stuck in a force close loop of Launcher pro after rebooting. I have done a hot battery pull and still am stuck.

Any ideas?

Many things can ignite a force close loop, not the least of which is overclocking too high and allowing the "on boot" box to be checked before testing the settings.

But I'd start from scratch if a live battery pull did not remedy the situation.

Thank you Frisco

I plugged my phone in and got to the recovery screen. I did a wipe and a dv wipe, then tried to reboot and am now stuck in an xtrcustom rom screen loop (it gets to the quietly brilliant stage and starts the loop again).

Any more ideas? I value your insight immensely since I have read many of your posts and you seem to help each person get back on track.

Thank you

Thanks, cmerrtt.

I think if I were seeing that I'd start all over, including the three wipes: data/factory, dalvik and SD:ext...

..but not before shutting it down and charging the device fully from a wall socket; sometimes a partial charge will disallow a ROM to detect enough charge to continue, at which point it will "get dumb" and loop or just shut down.

I'd even re-download the ROM's zip file and md5 checksum, then flash as instructed by the ROM's dev.

Thanks - got back to the recovery site and did all three wipes. It does boot again although it comes up with the xtr rom (one I would like to have :) although none of the xtra zip files are on the sdcard. Couple of questions ...

Am I able to try to re-partition this card and ad my apps back from my back up first or is it needed at all with xtra rom?

Should I flash the xtrrom zip file again to my sdcard so I can open the other modules?

Thanks

after you partitioned your card, did you perform the perform the SD:ext2 to ext3 command? It is crucial to do that! I forgot to do it once and I got a boot loop scenario.

Thank you - just tried to partition my card and made sure to follow your suggested step.Yea - no boot loop although again my card did not partition.

I just reinstalled Astro so I could read the card and all of my former files are there along with back ups of my apps.

I have Xtrrom flashed and running although I must be missing a step since I am unable to partition the card and run Apps2sd.

Any suggestions???

I have a similar issue with my droid (milestone/droid1) practically every app on my phone force closes.

google maps force closes along with launcher pro and more. only a few apps dont force close such as andronotes, astro file manager, messaging and calls and surprisingly a few games such as angry birds.

my phone is currently rooted running 2.2 (froyo) and i never got to add any roms to my phone due to my phone and/or computer not recognising the files or i may have done something wrong. the only addition to my phone aside from rooting that i have done was install a theme to the top bar of my pull down via metamorph and i dont know how to change the text on top (clock and notifications) to white.

i have ran a restore to factory defaults but that had no change, all it managed to do was simply reboot my phone. and i rebooted into safe mode and uninstalled launcher pro to avoid the force close loop.

before that took place i also had my clock widgets and beautiful widgets not loading (which was the start of it) at which i did not do anything but turn on my screen and look at the time on my phone and watched the widget just cut out and say "problem loading widget"

now every clock widget i put up does not load, almost all apps and new apps i download end up force closing or if they keep starting up, ends up in a force close loop.

I'm not sure what else to do to fix all the force closes i feel theres possibly a a corrupted file on my phone that is causing all of this. ultimately once i get the force closing issues taken care of, can someone possibly help me fix the text in the top bar to white as well? that's assuming the phone is salvagable after this force close problem.

I'd greatly appreciate any help/advice/tips i can get, thanks
