Evo 4g or vibrant

Just wondering which phone people would deem a better purchase, EVO or Vibrant? With all of the issues I have heard on both phones I don't know which to pick. I tried my buddy's vibrant and liked it. My uncle has a Evo and he likes it. Thoughts?

Side Note: I'm a college student so phone would be used mainly entertainment.

I say pick it based on the best carrier in the areas you are going to be in.

Pick the carrier first, then go with a phone choice!

FWIW, on paper the Vibrant is a better phone. But IMHO, you won't be disappointed either way, so go with the best carrier!

For me and the areas I go, T-Mobile is quite dismal, and the 3G coverage sucks. Sprint has pretty good coverage and great 3G network penetration (4G coverage for me is about as spotty as T-Mobile 3G), and there was great value in their plan packages.

You may want to check to see if you have 4G coverage for the Evo, if so, seriously consider the Evo esp. if you'll use it mainly for entertainment. I checked out the Vibrant and liked it. But I liked the screen size available on the Droid X and Evo 4G. The Vibrant was nice but also lacked a flash for the camera, but it was somewhat more "portable" size/weight-wise. It has some cool new screen technology called "amoled", and when I walked out in the sun with the Evo and Vibrant, the Vibrant looked better. However, if you are looking for a phone for entertainment, the Evo may be better for you, esp. with the flash for the camera, and the "built-in" Sprint entertainment apps (Sprint Football Live, NASCAR, Sprint TV). The 4G mobile hotspot is awesome, I've been using it as my home internet connection with incredible speeds (4-5 Mbs on Speedtest.net), BUT I happen to live close to a 4G cell tower. Hope that helps.

This is the most unbiased answer ever given from all the posts that I have been reading lately about Android vs. Android.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Although it doesn't much matter right now, would droid 3.0 be available on both phones come time? Just curios.

As of right I'd say that its hard to say and any answer you will get from anybody would be speculation. Samsung put all their eggs in one basket and called it a Galaxy S. It was released world wide so if they fail with a simple update, even if its just Froyo, it might take them outta the Smartphone running forever especially with their ad attacks against Iphone and their history of breaking promises for updates of passed phones.

If you're considering the Vibrant and willing to switch to Sprint for the Evo, why not the Epic4G? Then you'd have the best of both... Sprint's 4G (eventually, at least), and Samsung's hardware video acceleration.

Before you object and say you don't want a slide-out keyboard, consider this... if you're buying it primarily for entertainment, the slide-out keyboard means you'll almost certainly be able to get a Game-Gripper for it, eventually. No, AFAIK the company hasn't promised one for the Epic4G... but all things considered, it seems almost inconceivable that they won't unless they go out of business or lose their shirts over the Droid model, simply because when it's finally released, the Epic4G will be the best of breed gaming phone with requisite slide-out keyboard to support a Game-Gripper of its own.

there is no comparison. Vibrant ofcourse. i'm now getting 2250 Quadrant WITHOUT 2.2 There is no lag whatsoever. I've seen my friends Evo. The screen was really crappy for some reason. Maybe i'm used to my Super Amoled screen but it is a beauty to behold. Evo is a great phone, don't get me wrong but it is no Galaxy S. If top performance is not really an issue for you, Evo will be fine.
