yes i went to the mall on sunday and finally located an evo!! im happy i finally got some android goodness in my life and im loving it! if anybody has any info on how to optimize the phone and anything i should know about send me a pm or just post on here and thanks to all those who helped me stay sane in my search!!!

ha! good for you! I walked into a Sprint store with my girlfriend so she could get her premier upgrade on friday and walked out an hour later with an EVO! They had just gotten a shipment in an hour before! Build date of 7/12! I had been with Verizon for 6 years and so far I love sprint and the EVO!

As far as optimization just read the stickies, turn off 3g and wifi when you're not using them, turn off auto-sync and lower the screen brightness. Most will say don't but I use advanced task killer to end any apps I don't want running, like facebook and dolphinHD and such. Battery life isn't that bad coming from an Eris

please don't turn of 3g. thats absurd. why even have a smartphone. battery life is fine with 3g on, bunch of push email, apps, weather, etc syncing.

Congrats... you're gonna love it! Best phone I've ever used.

My first Android device as well. The best way (IMO) to get to know the phone is to go through every App and widget and hit menu, then options/settings. Set everything up how you want and make modifications as you go. I spent the a few hours (err.. days) doing this and it really helps to get to know the OS. Its fun.. enjoy.
The Evo is simply amazing!

Personal choice I suppose...my 3g toggle switch is on a home screen so when I want to sync, I flip it on let it sync and flip it off. Maybe I get ~30 minutes to an hour of battery but again it's a personal choice ;)

I've had the phone for about a month and i am happy with it. Well i had to exchange the phone 2 times but i still love the phone the way it is.

Update to froyo and your battery problems should be better, still not the best but it's better at least.

I'm happy to have gotten mine this week, but i too will have to get it replaced soon due to some of the common issues. Screen separation, light bleeding, crooked power button and the back won't fit on well (which is one problem i hear almost everyone has).

Congrats on getting an Evo  For the first few days you will not be able to put down the phone as you will be playing around with it and setting it up to your preferences.

Haha! A few days? More like a few weeks. I was so completely enthralled with this phone and honestly still am. I have been on these forums daily and have learned so much! This community is awesome and so very helpful in many many ways. From sharing apps and wallpapers to detailed instructions on how to do many things. Enjoy the new EVO and welcome to the family :D
