I got my X a few days ago and so far im really not that happy with it. the Speaker- low as hell, vibration - cant even feel it, battery life - barely, and i mean BARELY lasts me a day. and scrolling the homescreens and things like that can be kind of choppy. why does everyone say this phone is so amazing because thats why i got it. is mine defective or what?

well mine vibrates but i cant feel it when its in my pocket especially if im walking, and inside my speaker is loud but not outside, and its noticabley lower than my friends droid 1 speaker. im considering returning it for a droid 2 should i? and i could get a droid pro around christmas but i would hav to return my x now so i can keep my upgrade. what should i do

i heard atk screws up your phone cuz after a while it starts to force close apps when you dont want it to but ill look into system panel and launcher pro. and i just saw some guys post saying he has 80 percent batt after being unplugged for 10 hours. yeah i have a defective battery i get worse life than my friends inc which is the oppisite of what ive seen in reviews.

1. Battery - What do you expect from a phone with 4.3" screen and apps being online all the time?

2. As someone pointed out the issue is going to be fixed soon.

3. Try some apps that can modify vibration patterns and length.

4. The phone is not defective, it may simply not be for you. That is how it is with phones with a lot of hype around them, they are bought by people who never did any real research about the phone.

^ dont overlook the fact that you couldnt find a phone to have a real test play with until the day it was released. where im at the closest thing to a droidx was a dummy phone. how are you supposed to decide what you like and dont like with a dummy phone? then, factor in the buy it now or wait for ever until they can make some more deal. our store still doesnt have any DXs since July 15.

My phone has been great besides the constant rebooting {verizon is sending me a new X} as far as the volume its OK but there is a patch coming out for it soon. But when my X is working is is a great device best smart phone I have owned so far no need to look anymore. The battery has been great compared to my Dinc I had and I can get a full day with heavy use.

If you are getting through a day be happy..All smart phones are going to have less battery life than a dumb phone, 1 because they do more, 2 because you use it for a lot more things. As long as you are getting through a day dont worry about it..also if you need to bring a car charger or an extra charger to work to help you give it a boost charge.

well the only true problem i have with my phone is the battery. my friends Dinc gets better batt life then mine. (unless hes a lying jealous bastard lol) so but verizon is sending me a new one. or i might get a 1840 mAh battery. but does anyone think i should change phones to a droid 2? it looks pretty nice

Constant news feeds, (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) screen brightness and how often you have it on, and GPS/WiFi/3G are probably the top three things that will drain your battery quickly. I only suggest this from reading numerous threads and postings here on the forum. When I get my phone I can probably narrow it down as to what I think drains the battery more or less.

I think that each device really may be slightly different though. I think I read around here somewhere that Motorola had said each battery comes off the line a little bit different. When you add the possibility of the rest of the phone's innards being unique from phone to phone, then usage experiences might vary. I'll have to post back once I've had some time with my own Droid.

Not all smart phones are bad on battery. I could go 2 days on my Storm with out heavy use pretty easily. Three or four days if left alone with minimal use. Maybe a week on standby with no use at all, but on(maybe ;) ). But play a game for an hour or two and it would be gone in no time. Run a golf GPS app and it's about half-gone after the round..... easily.

does anyone think the incredible has a much better battery life than the driod X?

i mean basically that is the biggest thing for me. the big screen is cool but if the phone doesnt last then whats the point???

I returned the incredible after 2 weeks. The battery life was horrendous. It ran down 2-3x as fast as the Droid X. However, much more unbearable, was the extremely poor voice quality (see the numerous call quality threads in the Inc forum)

Battery life on most smart phones is horrible. Iphone is probably the best, but as others mentioned, you lose a lot of flexibility, and still going to have a tough time make it to the end of day 2 with an iphone.

This phone's software sucks out of the box. I feel bad for anyone who unknowingly just buys it and uses it stock. However, if you ditch all the Moto crap and run LauncherPro, get a new dialer, etc you end up with one hell of a phone.

That's the great thing about android though - if you don't like it, change it. The DX is a decent piece of hardware. My primary complaint as you mention is the speaker volume but hopefully it will be fixed.

No phone is perfect, but this is certainly one of the best Android phones on the market, and IMO hands down better than the garbage HTC has been putting out (in the hardware dept).

tranceFusion -

What dialer app do you recommend? I've been able to replace MOST of the crappy out-of-the-box software, but the dialer and contacts manager are still stock.

I'm thinking about rooting and going with NexTheme... not sure if that comes with a different dialer app... need to do more research, as I'm new to Android.

BlackBerries have the best battery life, though the hardware isn't as fast as the top-end iPhones or Android phones.

The speaker is a bit low, lower than my storm before its update, but after 5.xx it distorted, I have no complaints the DXs speaker - alarm wakes me every morning, besides my head fyi. The vibrate seems pretty darn well, almost like an electric shock using swype, much better than my storm.

As far as the choppiness goes, I've experienced this BUT only when I had less than 50mb of apps running in the background, I know some don't support task killer but it does come in handy. Play with the settings, animation, different animated wall papers will make it slug, high res, and I mean high res wall paper will too - just chill out and learn more about the phone and read others post about tips and tricks, this phone is blazing fast, even pre-froyo - launched they just probably have everything running to impress you, syncs, fetch schedules, widget updates ect. Just play with it, don't be afraid to dive in and play with the settings, just remember what you've done and what makes it slow and I promise you, you'll be happy :D
