Desire's gets hot when charging

Is this normal!?

Me and my bf have both got these phones and both of them get quite hot when they charge -particulary when we are playing games or browsing when its charging.

Is this "the norm" for these phones?!

Anybody else get the same thing on their Desire?!

Btw -apart from tht this phone is IMMENSE!!! Gota love it!

There is an extensive thread somewhere on this forum about lithium batteries (i cant seem to find it) where is was advised that you do not do heavy tasks when charging for example graphic demanding games etc. This generates excess heat and heat is proven to reduce the lifespan of electronics in general. The thread made a lot of sense, just cant seem to find it, if i remember correctly it was even stickied.

All batteries get hot when charging, more so if you are using the phone while charging.
Actually no battery should ever get "hot" when charging, warm maybe, but never hot. If the battery is getting hot, then there is an issue with the charging method. If a battery is charged at 0.5C (1/2 of current rating) or less, then it should only get warm. The AC charger included with the Desire is rated at 850mAH which is just over half of its rating, so it shouldn't get hot (mine doesn't).

As others have stated, any heat coming from the Desire is probably from the lower back area which is where the CPU resides and heat dissipated should be felt at that area.
