are you kidding me? I got the Incredible on day one, they announced the Droid X right after. Took INC back and got the X on day one. Now they are announcing a GLOBAL DROID! I can't deal with this one after another BS. Release a phone, let it marinate so that the people that bought it feel like they have the best smartphone on the market for AT LEAST A MONTH! I know advanced in technology shouldn't upset me, but I traded my Global Storm 2 for the X and while i love it, I made a trade off. It just pisses me off that we keep getting banged with new phones and/or announcements back to back.

note this is not a flame

a few questions to make you think

so technological advancement bothers you?
if you arent happy with a phone when you are buying it then why are you buying it?
if you are happy with your current phone then why would you be mad that you dont have better?
do you just want to be that guy who has the cool new cell phone all the time?

I'm amazed at the number of whiners here; People are complaining that they have to wait a WHOLE MONTH before the Droid X is supposed to get 2.2, for example.

Good lord, what's wrong with some of these people? If the phone you're buying doesn't satisfy your needs right now, then DON'T BUY IT. It's not rocket science.

This news is kind of a letdown. The Pro was rumored the be rockin 2ghz, now it is showing up at 1.2 or 1.3. Early yet I know, but c'mon Moto give us a fire breathing monster. One thing please no keyboard. With all the options for text input a keyboard is really useless on a 4" plus screen.
Honestly. I don't see how a 2 ghz processor will work in a phone with the batteries they use these days. They would need a cpu control app with a 2 ghz processor, 1.3 was amazing on my Moto Droid.

Ok... What the heck is a droid pro?

Also, though I love swype, hardware keyboards rock for gaming.

This one would be interesting especially because we are likely only days away from the release of the Motorola Droid 2 and only a couple of weeks into the life of the Droid X. But hey, having options is a good thing and it appears those of you on Verizon might have another one come November.

According to a leaked Verizon roadmap, it seems as though Big Red and Motorola are going to be releasing another Droid branded phone called the Motorola Droid Pro sometime in November. Keep in mind that is an estimated arrival date so it

I remember when Verizon was criticized for being slow and gimping their smartphone releases. This was just a year ago. Things changed when they released the touch pro 2 last September by leaving well enough alone. Now we are at the extreme opposite. Like you I just picked up my Droid X last Friday and had that buyers remorse feeling after reading the article. But you know, this year is the Droid Pro, next is another mega phone from HTC and then you still have next year. Competition is fierce between carriers and manufactures. If I had to pick I would choose constant improvement. Just get rid of the 2 year agreements and make one year standard. My poor touch pro 2 was only used for 9 months before it got retired. Blame it on lack of improvement from microsoft.

Rumors of this phone being released in Q4 2010 were posted on Howard Forums weeks before the release of the Incredible.

So, the information was most definitely out there.

I think your concerns about having an new Android device released every two months are more than valid. On one had it is good for technology moving and verity to the consumers. Then on the other hand there is a very real concern about product cannibalization and buyers remorse that go along with it.

The idea that "What you don't want technology to move along quickly?" is said over and over in tech forums, but its not even a whole truth. There are reasons why completely new cars with totally different and better features don't come out every two months, or why a new anything isn't released every two months.

Motorola probably feel that they need to capture as many parts of the market as possible. People who they think want a keyboard phone, people who think they want a big screen, and people who think they want a fast phone. I'm sure those are all major marketing points. Its up to Motorola to decide if its good for their business. Android has been doing really well in sales lately so they must be doing something right, that just doesn't mean their doing it the best they can.

I have about 5 friends who are all interested in Android. One has an iPhone and they others still have dumb phones. They are all due up for a contract renewal and have been for 2+ months. The reason none of them have jumped to a new device is because they keep hearing about something new being released in a couple months. Droid X? Sweet! Two weeks later they hear about a Droid Pro being released in a couple months. If it was a year it may be better, that's a half way point in a 2-year contract.

I somehow am not shocked with this thread... Even on the verizon wireless forums, people are all freaking out about getting the Droid X, then the Droid 2 coming out.

The problem with most people, is that they are impulse buyers. You see the latest, greatest technology out there and just happen to have the money in your pocket and spend it. They spend little to no time researching the item before dropping $200+ on it. Then when they bother sitting down to look up stuff or to read up on what they currently have, they then get severe buyers remorse.

This will always be a problem with the Android based phones, any hardware manufacturer can get the source for the OS and create their own phone. This is not like a iphone, where there is only one company that makes it and markets it through only one service provider. So releases are more carefully planned and they ensure that the releases come out at certain times, before contracts run out and someone goes to another provider, because of the lack of updates.
