Hi all,

I'm having a real problem with my phone. My contacts are set up to sync with google which works fine. All my contacts are Google contacts. However, if I create a new contact (setting it as a Google contact), then when it syncs with Google, rather than creating the contact in my GMail account it wipes the contact from my phone.

I can't be the only person experiencing this, is there a solution?

The only time it has done that to me is when I have added a new contact as on my sim or phone because I have only got it to display the google contacts. Have you thought to saving all your contacts from google (as backup) and then clearing all the data from the contacts app?

@ihailstone: You're right, that does seem to be the only workaround but it's a ridiculous one. Possibly if you created a phone contact, rather than a google one it would stay on the phone but that rather defeats the idea of syncing contacts.

@noddle: A friend's Samsung Android phone has the same problem. I will try clearing the contacts app data but this seems to be a common enough problem. How would I go about that?

I have the same problem. I can only add contacts to my phone if I go through google contacts --- which is so lame.

I have done a factory reset months ago, and that worked for a bit, but the problem has returned. I wonder if it has something to do with the # of contacts in the google contacts ?? How many contacts do you guys have, in those that have the problem?

I have 1088 contacts... just not sure if that has anything to do with it.
